“AWESOME”
Reviewed December 22, 2012 via mobile

Great view, great food, great atmosphere, great people. We also loved the live music event and this guy singing. Everything was exceptional. After a tiring day at the slopes, salastrains is the best choice. Make sure you make a reservation on time. It is very busy during holidays.

“Great setting, good food”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

We ate here six days in a row with our German friends, who had reserved a lunch table in advance. A great location and very good food to break up a day of skiing on Corviglia. Most diners were there to soak in the aura and the weather, but many like us were also there for a 1.5 hour lunch and then back to skiing. Not inexpensive for lunch.

“Good view, good food, good staff. Good.”
Reviewed March 25, 2012

Good sums this place up. The terrace is a super spot for lunch and people watching with a tremendous mountain view. This is a very accessable restaurant - I got a taxi to the front door, one friend walked up the mountain and another skied down to us. The owner (I assume it is he) is very jolly, table hopping and shaking everyone's hand looking terribly happy. I'm sure he is - it must make him a fortune! The menu is ggod and the prices are ok. Service is ok-ish. We had to flag a waiter down on several occasions rather than them being attentive. Inside is cosy and loo's excellently kept. This place was good enough that I went back the next day. Yes, boring I know, but I wanted to try it a little more!

“Magnificent restaurant”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

The Salastrains restaurant is beautifully decorated, the food is scumptious (particularly the Don Arturo mixed salad which is the best I've ever had), and the staff are terrific. The head waiter, Mr. Maurizio Grillo, is fun, lively, and very accomodating. This is one of the two best mountain restaurants in Switzerland, the other being the Weissfluhjoch Gipfel restaurant at the very top of Davos/Klosters.

“neither a Swiss nor a mountain restaurant: it belongs to a league of its own.”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

The only bad thing you might report about Salastrains is that it is posh. However it is so stylishly posh that you may forgive it. Reachable both from the sky paths and by a little train from St Moritz, Salastrains is located above St Moritz Dorf and it is a treat not to be missed, particularly when you eat in its open terrace in a sunny day. Salastrains is neither a Swiss nor a mountain restaurant: it belongs to a league of its own. You seat in style surrounded by the snow in front of the beautiful landscape of Engadin. You really feel that there is a community of regular customers which has developed a tangible complicity with the service, which is impeccable and that it has also the spark and the personality that only stylish places can offer. The menu is very wide and stretches from local mountain specialties to game and fish. The quality is very high, but a few dishes deserve a mention: this is the case, for example of both the cordon bleu and the steak tartare, both of them very delicate and served with a wide range of sauces. Wine list is remarkable, including a fair selection of Champagne brands. Salastrains does not come cheap: for example an average meat main course costs 50 CHF. However the unrivalled beauty of its location, the style of the place and the high standards of the cuisine make it a must both for the regular and for the occasional visitor to St Moritz. Thumbs up!
