The most useful feature, as far as we were concerned anyway, was that it was open! We had tried several hotels previously and all were closed. October is clearly not the high season in Davos!

The CEntral Sporthotel was very comfortable, clean and had pleasant rooms with stunning views over the mountains. Modern bathroom and decor, very hot shower. Wifi available although don't ask for the password over the phone, language difficulties resulted in a few false starts before heading down to reception to collect!

Excellent breakfast selection, catering well for both British and European tastes. A particularly good muesli and yoghurts.

We could also park our motorcycles out the front, although there is a car park at the rear as well.

We stayed 5 nights in the appartment of the hotel. The appartment block is a little bit down the road towards tallstrasse. The size is perfect, since you will spent a lot of time outside in Davos! You have a couch, a chair and a dining table with three chairs. The flatscreen tv has a moveable arm, so you can watch tv from your bed as well. The beds are hidden in the closet. We moved the matrasses to the floor, because we didn't like the big separation between the two beds (>10 cm). In the kitchen you will find everything for three persons. The biggest glasses were wine glasses, so we asked for some bigger waterglasses as well. There is also an oven in the kitchen. The balcony has sun in the afternoon, until it disappears behind the mountains. We loved the floor in the appartment, really warm and soft. Wifi works perfect, although not always on the balcony.

Location: near Schatzalp, near busstop. You will find Coop Pronto on Promenade, or in talstrasse at the petrolstation. We rented bikes accross the sportsfield ( yellow building, great bikes and service!). You can buy fresh bread at Schneiders (right from the hotel at promenade). Parking is free if you have a card from the hotel.

The lobby is a bit down at the heels, but our room was excellent. We stayed in a junior suite which had been renovated in the not too distant past.

I felt a bit bad for the woman working at the check in desk when we arrived as she was receiving a bit of a lecture from a French speaking Swiss couple for her being able to speak English but not French. The front desk staff were all friendly, but not extremely forthcoming with information, like it would have been useful to know when I asked about the pool opening hours that they had bathrobes at the front desk, but not in the room.

Housekeeping staff also couldn't quite understand that we just wanted the linens to make up the sofa bed for our children to sleep on because we wanted to use the sofa as a sofa until evening, even though this was all explained in German.

The waiter at breakfast was excellent, very fun and helpful and seems to speak enough of about 10 languages to get by.

In the summer, you get the Davos card with the room, which gives you access to all the cablecars to go up hiking, etc. which is a great bonus.

Room Tip: Mountain view rooms are more expensive than village view rooms, but Davos is a small village surroun...

We have stayed in the 2 bedroom apartments adjoining this hotel . They are quite spacious but have very hard beds. We have woke up regularly with back ache ! The apartments could do with more utensils etc in the kitchen . We had to ask for a pan to cook on the hob but sadly no cups big enough to have a decent cup of tea !! The hotel is very central to the promenade in Davos . Davos is quite expensive but it is a resort so we expected this .

I and two friends recently had the good fortune to stay at Central Sport Hotel apartments in Davos. Booked via booking.com this was all very effortless and the stay itself excellent.

The apartments are in a separate building to the main hotel so I cannot comment on the hotel itself except to say the staff were extremely helpful and good natured. We arrived very late on Friday night past midnight and were calmly and amicably shown to our apartment room with a parking area pointed out. There is ample parking as well. Very handy. Top tip is you can drive from the hotel to the Jakobshorn ski area rather than walk or bus it.

Getting to the other ski areas is relatively straight forward as the bus stop is just up the road about 5 – 10 mins walk. The driveway is steep but not impossible. At the top of the driveway is a café for an expensive breakfast or you could go to the Hotel. We made use of the kitchen facilities in our apartment and cooked our own breakfast. The kitchen is very well appointed with everything you need. If you have a Lavazza coffee pod machine, bring some pods from home!

The layout for an apartment accommodating four people is a bedroom with split double bed in typical Swiss fashion plus fold out sofa-bed. The sofa bed was a bit rock hard according to my mate but some people like that sort of thing. The apartments are modern, very warm and there is a good selection of TV channels. Bathroom and shower is also very good.

All in all, I cannot fault the place.

Room Tip: The sofa bed would be a bit small for two fully grown adults who did not know each other really real...

We went on holiday in Central Sporthotel Davos. Is was a good hotel, but not fabulous. The hotel is old-dated but it needs to be said, everything is very clean. In the Bundnerstubli were we had breakfast and dinner, the personal is rather intrusive and they try to make jokes all the time. Nice for once, but the whole week the same jokes, it becomes really boring and annoying. The food was good, but you had bearily the time to eat at ease. There is a nice swimming-pool. At the reception they were friendly and helpful. Our room faced the back of a bar and every evening there was loud music and people screaming in the streets. So when you book with a touroperator, you become the rooms where you can hardly see a thing of the mountains. The hotel is situated at 50m of the bus station and at 10 minutes walk of the Jacobshorn.

I have just returned from a trip to Davos, Skiing with a group of friends.

This was my third visit to Davos and it seems to get better each time that I go.

The Skiing is first class, ideally suited to everyone from beginners to more experienced skiers, the pistes are wide and well maintained and the large area means there is plenty to explore.

The restaurants on the mountains are all excellent with the usual choice of Self Service up to 5 star fine dining possible.

The Cental Sporthotel was a really comfortable place to stay, clean and efficient. This isn't a ridiculous, pompous, fancy Hotel, as some in Davos can be. It's a genuinely well run 4 star Hotel in a superb central location, 1 minute from the Ski Bus stop. The ski buses run frequently so you are only a few minutes away from any of the ski lifts and areas, no effort is required at all !

The room was comfortable and simply furnished with a modern, clean bathroom etc.

The pool area and sauna are both very good.

The staff were superb, incredibly helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

The Restaurant deserves special mention. We went Half Board. The dinner each night was of a very high standard with a special theme almost every night.

However, if we had special requests or unusual requirements, they were very happy to oblige and managed to produce superb food every time.

In short, Davos is to be recommended, it's one of the best ski resorts in the world, it's a town, not a village so don't go looking for a quaint alpine atmosphere.

I would recommend the Sporthotel, it's excellent value and very comfortable.

Have a great trip !

Room Tip: I expect all the rooms are good...if you arrive a the weekend, be careful not all the shops are open...
