“Great place to stay”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

We have recently returned form an 11 night stay. The hotel was clean and very efficiently run. Staff were helpful and always had a smile and a polite word. When I requested a second pillow it quicky arrived. (pillows are feather so not good if you have an allergy) Food was very good, we were on half board terms and found the choice more that adequate, despite the walking we both put on weight due to the excellent quality of the produce served, wonderful fish dishes. My only complaint was the coffee making facility in our room - I am a decaff drinker and other than the first night when there was decaff, it never reappeared. I always take my own anyway so it wasn't a problem but it would have been nice to have that choice, also the paper cups were a let down as that limited you to one or two cups. Next time, and I hope there will be one, I shall pack a cup. I great place for families as well as couples, good pool and a childrens club + full self-service children's menu - I wish I'd known about it when mine were small. Thank you for such a great stay. If you like walking, good scenery and good food, this is the place for you but it is a10 mins walk from the nearest bus stop and 20 mins walk from the station.

Dear Alison B.
Thank you for your valuable and detailed feedback. We have read the notes about the coffee making facilities very carefully. We will make sure, enough caps and decaf capsules will be at your disposal upon your return ... which we hope for :-)
Best regards from the Sheraton Waldhuus

My husband and two nephews spent a week there this Summer. They were so impressed with the service in the entire hotel. Nothing was impossible, and they were all smiles and they felt so welcome there. They will defenitely go back again, and will recommend this hotel to everone we know.

We liked our stay at this romantic location in Davos. The Hotel is built in traditional Swiss Chalet style and we really liked our room with a big balcony with fantastic views. We stayed here before many years ago and the hotel still looks new and crisp. The only downside is the restaurant - overpriced! We ate there as we didn't want to walk into town...food was ok but overpriced.

Thank you for your feedback about your recent stay with us. We love to hear that you like our hotel and its condition. Due to the fact that nearly all our products in the restaurant are of Swiss origin, the costs and also the price is higher then in our neighbouring countries. We try to overcome this issue in offering a half board menü of choice (4 course) for a reasonable package charge which you should ask for next time your visiting us. We would appreciate to see you back again here at the Waldhuus!

My husband and I stayed here on our way to Tuscany. A warm welcome greets us and even was upgraded which was a nice surprise! It is a little out of the town Davos but a great location. The room service meal was quite expensive but we were in Switzerland !! We had a view overlooking the golf course . Breakfast was very good and they even had lactose free milk for my husband! I would recommend this hotel to everyone and would like to stay there again for sure.

A most excellent hotel.
The Sheraton Waldhuus is located on the edge of Davos, alongside the golf course with woods to the rear, and the course and Dovos to the front. Davos is a large town, it's not quaint, and suffers as does all of Switzerland from arcitects who are obsessed by minimalistic boxes painted some outragious colours. That said there's nothing wrong with it, and the area around the lake is most pleasant. The front of the hotel looks out on a courtyard car park, views beyond are of Davos (what did I expect, "Brighton" as Basil said) and beyond that of the mountains, these hang over the town as Davos is situated in a narrow valley.
The hotel is modern, clean, well decorated in an excellent state of upkeep.
Most importantly, meals are excellent (that word again). The breakfast buffet is more comprehensive than we've had anywhere; a full range of breads, hot beverages, fruit (fresh fruit salad as well as tinned), cereals, Yoghurt (including cartons of fat free), cheeses, ham, fruit juices of all sorts and a hot buffet of boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, rosti & pancakes. Packed lunches wich we were provided with (booked with Inghams) consisted of two rolls, one cheese one ham, friut and buiscuit. Evening meal was 4 courses, with at least 2 choices for each course, one of which was a salad buffet, (again very comprehensive, a range of lettuce, beetrute, carrot, tomato, sweetcorn & red beans, onions, dressings etc). All food was excellently cooked, fresh and varied and quantities were good.
Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke English. Many thanks to them especially Elke Zimmerman.
We stayed in an 'Executive room', which was all that Inghams had available. This was large, & clean, but as it consisted of a room plus an alcove with a single bed and there were only two of us then the alcove was dead space and thus the 'Executive' was probably no more advantage than the cheaper 'Superior'. The bathroom was very large with not only a large bath, but also a separate shower cublical. The one down side was lighting in the room was completely inadequate, with no central light, only two bedside lights and a light over the desk, in winter when the days & light is short then this must be dreadful.

Room Tip: Go for a Superior rather than Executive unless there are three of you

Just returned from Waldhuus and had a great 14 day holiday. Travelled with Inghams and received excellent service from the hotel. Booked an executive room - very large with everything we wanted. Swimming pool an extra bonus. Plenty to do in Davos. Travelled on the trains and buses which were very efficient. The hiking trails available were superb by using the cable cars available in the area. Overall excellent facilities, staff very attentive and we had a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: Had room 345 (executive) very quiet and very comfortable.

We spent two weeks at the Davos Sheraton Walduus in June/July 2012 (as part of an Inghams package). Located in a quiet area almost mid-way between Davos Platz and Davis Dorf the hotel benefits from excellent bus services to both centres and nearby lift stations while Klosters and the surrounding area are well-served by trains. The extensive walking opportunities in the area coupled with free use of local busses, trains and mountain lifts makes Davos-Klosters particularly attractive and good value.

Perhaps because it is much smaller than most Sheraton hotels, the Sheraton Walhuus has a more cosy and personal feel. Without exception, the staff provided outstanding service (even by Swiss standards) that was both friendly and effective. Any issues were dealt with promptly and with good humour.

Food provided in the buffet breakfast and table-service dinner was of a high standard and well presented. The half-board dinner was, though, nouvelle cuisine-style and those seeking to tuck in to a plate of steak and chips might be disappointed. That said, the quantity of food served overall for the four course dinner, including salad buffet, was more than sufficient, even after a hard day’s walking. Restaurant staff were extremely helpful in providing alternatives for those with special dietary needs.

Our outward BA flight was severely delayed and Inghams rapidly re-arranged our transfer schedule to the hotel while Sheraton Walduus staff provided an excellent dinner even though the restaurant was closed. We will certainly be returning to the Sheraton Walduus.

Dear Globtraveller1,
We appreciate a lot your detailed feedback for your visit to Davos and we hear that you enjoyed you two weeks stay with us. The co-operation with Inghams Travel is of a big value for us as it gives us the possibility to be the host for UK guests like you. Also the possibility to use the cablecars and lifts, trains and busses of Davos and Klosters means a big financial benefit for our guests. We hope this and our small daily lunch package made Switzerland a bit less expensive for you. Thank you also for you compliments to our staff. This is very motivating for us. Best regards! We are looking foreward to welcoming you soon back again here in the Sheraton Waldhuus and in Davos.
