“Never Again.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2012

I have been to a number of Club Med Ski Resorts, and loved them all, but Club Med Wengen was a major disappointment.
Accomodation - My room stunk, similar to a Public Toilet. I reported it 3 times to Reception, nothing improved. On day 4 (paid for 7) I checked out, telling the English Speaking Staff I was leaving due to the smell. They said nothing and let me go. Didn't apolgise, didn't offer another room (and there were rooms empty), didn't care less. It was astounding.
Ski Instruction - At previous Club Med's I have been to the Ski Instructors were outstanding. Some of the best I have had in the world. I cannot say the same for Club Med Wengen. They were more interested in their own skiing and the free lunch they get back at Club Med.
Food - One plus in the whole experience. Thank You Chefs!

Room Tip: Ask for a clean room.

we were truly suprised by the exceptional value we got from this hotel . it is only 3 rated club med , but we were honestly very impressed although we were not expecting much. it is very vclose to the major lift , the village is very quaint , it is small , the food is outstanding , the kids felt completely at home .

The Club Med in Wengen is a very nice place to go for a skiing holiday. They are fully equiped and host excellent skiing classes. The whole experience was very good. Wengen is a lovely town with quick access to Jungfraujoch and Shilthorn. There are unique little shops in town with great gifts at good prices.
We had some problems with the airport transfers but otherwise the experience was without trouble. The food at the restaurant is superb. We also had one evening in the fondue restaurant.

Our ski-instructor, Priya, was very patient with us and had a great sense of humor. She knew all the best slopes and our trips were interesting everyday.

The bar/club at night can be a bit noisy but our room was in Eidelweiss, far enough away from the noise. The drinks at the bar is very basic on the all inclusive package. The restaurant has a good wine selection.

The rooms are very basic and average. The rooms are cleaned everyday and a bottle of water is provided.

This was our first Club Med experience and I must say it was average. We look forward to seeing what other resorts are available in the Club Med range.

Room Tip: The rooms in the palace are larger but closer to the noise of the bar. The rooms in Eidelweiss are b...

With 2 kids and a wife that hates the cold, March was the perfect time to go skiing in Wengen Club med Switzerland. The staff were great, especially with the kids. I hate to single out anyone because they were all great. Francesca and George were unbelievable. All the staff made such an effort, even the shows were great. Now for the food where do I start? Every thing was quality with an unbelievable range, food from all parts of the world, with Fogra to ossobuco, frogs legs, cheeses from the region all cooked to perfection and served with a smile. A must go

By and large, I had a great stay at Club Med Wengen. I had previously stayed at the Arcs Altitude Club Med. We had 2 rooms at the back of the hotel on the floor below reception. Not much of a view but we had windows. Our rooms were as good as you'd expect on a ski holiday for the price: 2 decent sized beds, a good shower, a little storage space, 2 safe deposit boxes and a flat screen TV. The decor was absolutely fine and didn't strike me as tired, as some others have reported. There was also no noise whatsoever in the evenings. We were usually closing the bar at midnight but the entertainment had usually finished long before and any disco noise was usually over by 23:00. Noise was probably more of a problem in the rooms at the front but never struck me as remotely unacceptable. Bar service was usually very fast. We drank beer most of the time but discovered on the last night that generous Bloody Mary's were also included!
The food was excellent. Not usually gourmet but always very edible at breakfast, lunch and especially at dinner. Specials like the Beef Wellington were excellent and the puddings were usually all too tempting. Finding a table was sometimes difficult at dinner but usually easy.
The hotel is quite well located given that it is all-inclusive. It's a couple of minutes walk to the cable car in ski boots and about 5-10 minutes to the train station. These are the only 2 'lifts' from the bottom. The cable car was faster up the mountain and often queue-free but sometimes involved a 15-20 minute wait at peak times. The train took 25 minutes up the mountain and only ran every 30 minutes but was the most pleasant option if you timed it right. The train was too full for us to get onto on the Saturday but was otherwise no problem.
We had pre-booked skis and the service from the busy Club Med ski service area was excellent.
I left with happy memories apart from 3 irritations that I think Club Med should sort:

Limited lift pass that you can't upgrade: It's not made clear on the website but the included lift pass gives you access to Wengen and Grindelwald only. If you are a decent skier, you'd probably want to spend a couple of days in Murren and one in Grindelwald First. For these, you need the Jungfrau pass. The upgrade from one to the other is only about CHF25 for the week BUT you can't upgrade a Club Med pass. Club Med need to sort this so they offer a resonably priced upgrade option. We paid about CHF50 for a single day pass to Murren but would have liked to have gone over there more often.
Wi-fi charges: There is a charge of CHF25 for the wi-fi key for the week. Reasonable value but a bit cheap to slap it on as an extra on an all-inclusive, particularly since the wi-fi probably costs them nothing and wasn't even working for 2 days of our stay.
Reserved tables: There were pretty much always tables available, but when there weren't, there were at least 4 or 5 available but reserved. The place should be first come first served to give everyone a chance. If it's a big problem to wait 10 minutes, turn up first.

Nearly completing my first week withclubbedd and my second week of ever skiing. Me and two kids (age 10 and 13)...lots of positives with some annoying negatives.on the plus side
- staff excellent, especially Dariana
- food excellent and plentiful
- transit from lauterbrunnen to hotel stress free , they meet and great and transfer the luggage
- rooms basic but fine
- ski instruction excellent- group sizes great,good 6hrs a day..9.30 to 4.00pm

On the downside...
- clubmed is French so expect a lot of French speaking and events...entertainment for me therefore a no go
- drinks forkids is cordial..no fresh juice
- walls paper thin, bring ear plugs
- European kids tend to run amok through the corridors at all hours..we were here on half term week...tough sleeping much before 1030pm..
- expect to wait min 30 mins to get gondola to the top
- ski locker room has limited chairs/space so get there early
- tv only has CNN in english..
- wireless signal weak ( in my room..406) and is extra...25chf for the week

that's aid I would recommend the place and return with no qualms

This is an all in hotel so they organise ski passes, lessons, have their own equipment rental. You really can just turn up and ski and the all inclusive part is fantastic. The food was amazing, as a vegetarian I was overloaded with choice - pasta, pizza, vegetable dishes, salads....you can get a voucher to eat up on the mountain for lunch.

The only downside was the rooms were quite basic and dated but they were clean and on a skiing holiday it just somewhere to sleep.

The staff are nice and friendly and out on entertainment every night.

I'd def recommend for a big group or families but maybe not for a romantic getaway.
