“Efficient fast way to get up the mountain”
Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

This is the quicker and very efficient way to get up onto the slopes at the top of Mannlichen; the other is the train that winds up to Kleine Scheidegg. At busier times of the ski season you have to time your arrival more carefully; before 9.15am as otherwise the queues can get large. The queue often spills out of the entrance; if you join the queue at the entrance you will be about 3 cable cars away from getting to the top; about half an hour. But this is still quicker than the train. The views of Wengen and the surrounding areas from the cable car are brilliant and look out for chamois, the mountain goats, which you will often see as the cable car travels over their steep rocky territory.

“Sardines”

Exceptional location right in the centre of Wengen. Don't have a long wait at ally for this cable car. However unless your lucky and get it with ski school children, it's very compact and can be uncomfortable. But it's only for 5 minutes so...

“No queues in Lauberhorn week”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

Not my first choice of transport personally, but this cable car is modern, regular, and didn't require me to queue at all during my recent week's skiing.

Great service, punctual (as with all things Swiss) and efficient. It is well located near the Club Med and gets you to the best skiing in less than 10 minutes.

“Unhelpful staff - Avoid Toboggan package ”
Reviewed January 16, 2014 via mobile

Please take this advice if you plan on taking any package that the Wengen cable car sell you....
We purchased tickets for the Mannlichen toboggan package from the ticket staff at Wengen cable car. The gentleman attendant was happy to take our 38chf pp. At no point were we told that we would be walking 80% of the route. We excitedly went up in the cable car, collected our toboggans and set off on the designated route. We were able to toboggan approx 200m of the whole course because the course was covered in thick snow and it was impossible to get the toboggan to move. As a result we walked the rest of the route (having no other way of getting to the next cable car station) The route to Grindlewald was also closed, something else we were not told.
We returned to the cable car attendant in Wengen who told us she was unable to offer any kind of refund. We asked to speak to her manager so we could have a refund and she told us that he was too busy with the Lauberhorn and all she could do was give us an address for the head office in Interlarken where they could issue the refund. She reluctantly appeared to contact them for us (at our request),after throwing her pen to one side in anger at having to assist us. Rude and ignorant does not come close to describe our encounter. We were left having to visit the Interlarken office if we wanted a refund. We did so with the address from the attendant only to be told on our arrival that they were a different company and were also unable to offer a refund. Nobody is prepared to take responsibility and we have been left disappointed and out of pocket for buying an experience package that we never experienced. In the Uk we would call this false advertising!!! Wengen cable car staff clearly don't care if they sell you a package they cannot deliver on and really are not helpful or skilled in customer care. I will be writing to the Swiss tourism office to inform them of the unprofessional conduct we have experienced so nobody else is "ripped off" in the same way we have been. Please do not spend your money with them on packages. You are likely to be very disappointed!
