We recently stayed in the residence part of the hotel. There are two parts to this property, the Hotel Bernerhof and the residence. You check in at the hotel and the staff weren’t overly friendly, every question seemed to be a hassle for them to answer. Not sure if this was a language barrier or they just didn’t want to help.
Room in the residence was large but very basic. It had a small fridge, jug for boiling water with cups, but no tea or coffee supplied. We had a room at the back of the property which overlooked a church, the bells sounded every half and on the hour and as the temperatures were in the high 20’s during our stay, we had to have the windows open.....need I say more about the bells!! There was no fan or aircon in the room. The residence also has no wifi in the rooms, it’s onky accessible in the entrance foyer which had a terrible musty smell.
Wengen is a small village in the Jungfrau region and as such the accommodation prices are quite high, as is the food prices. Be prepared to pay a lot more than in the cities. In saying this, the beauty and tranquility of this area is second to none, just stunning.More
