“Very high standards”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

Just returned from my fifth stay for a ski week from this Hotel. The standards seen in previous years have been maintained at a very high level. The quality of the food is outstanding, as is the service from all the personnel, many of whom have been at the Hotel, for as long as I have been a customer there. A warm welcome is guaranteed, and nothing is too much trouble. If it's good enough for the German National ski team, it's certainly good enough for me!

Room Tip: In my experience, all the rooms are good, but if you pay a bit extra you can secure a fantastic view...

Stayed in this hotel for a week half board whilst skiing in Wengen. Hotel situated 5 minutes walk from resort centre in a quiet position thus enhancing sleep quality. Room and adjoining bathroom were a good size with good facilities e.g. seating area, tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen tv plus the usual others. Dinner was excellent and plentiful, 5-courses, which hit the spot after a day's skiing. Food was Swiss but with an Italian orientation, perhaps due to numerous Italian staff, but this was not a bad thing at all and indeed is to be recommended. Didn't make much use of the public areas but there is a sizeable lounge with a log fire plus a bar area for those that wish to partake. All in all a very comfortable stay and to be recommended.

Stayed at the Wengener Hof over New Year and had a fabulous stay. The staff made every effort to ensure the New Year was welcomed in spectacular style with a fantastic dinner, music and dancing.

As other reviewers I can only commend the quality of the staff. They work extremely hard and are very helpful.

The hotel itself.... The location is very good, 5 minutes walk from the centre of Wengen, beautiful views over the valley. Tired is an understatement. It is in real need of investment. The boot room is more like a converted store cupboard, the bathrooms very dated, and the lounge / bar are not exactly places one would want to relax for long periods.

The charm of Wengen and the attitude of the hotel's staff more than compensated to make it a wonderful start to 2014.

The management and staff are superb ! Nothing is too much trouble for them and they managed to keep smiling through the very busy Christmas week . The welcome we received was second to none!
The meals we had were excellent and compliments to the chef were well deserved.
The hotel whilst warm and comfortable is starting to show its age and the decor is more classic 1986 than 1896
Whilst use of the pool facilities in the sister hotel is possible it should be noted that there is a good walk involved
(Uphill on the return trip) .

Apart from this the hotels location is excellent , just far enough from the village centre, (quiet and relaxing) and with fantastic views down the valley from the balcony rooms .
All in all a pleasant experience ,
I have tried not to be negative here as the hotels has many good points but we couldn't help but think that in order to attract new clients in the future it will need a more modern approach to interior design .
Thanks to the hotel team for making our stay pleasurable.

Room Tip: High floor with balcony for unbeatable views. Turn off the radiator @ night it gets really hot.

My wife and I stayed here 5 years ago..We recently returned for a week to find standards are still very high. Food in the restaurant is excellent.A very substantial buffet breakfast and excellent five course evening dinners with choice. The staff in the restaurant ,Daniel and William ,were very helpful and friendly.
We had a lovely clean room with balcony with superb views of the Lauterbrunnen valley and Jungfrau. Finally it was nice to meet the manager Giovanni again who is as ever the perfect host, very friendly and accommodating .
Hope to be back next year.

I did not actually stay at the hotel but at the chalet apartment located beside the hotel, which is also managed by Hotel Wengener Hof.

The chalet is a 3-bedroom apartment that is large, clean and comes with a nice kitchen equipped with everything you'll need to prepare a meal. The view from the chalet is exceptional as it is located in the quaint little town of Wengen, which is halfway between Interlaken and Junfraujoch and free from the tourist crowds.

The hotel does provide a free ride to the hotel when you call them using the machine located in Wengen train station. However, you'll need to pay a whopping CHF16 for the <5 mins ride back to the train station. Considering that there's a slope for the walk back to the train station, the hotel should consider providing the service free or at a minimum charge, and not rip-off it's customers. In addition, chalet does not have free wifi, unlike the hotel rooms in the main building.

Lastly, do consider staying at the chalet if you want a Swiss homely experience!
