For 226chf (£150) for 2 people we had dinner, bed & breakfast in a very good room with excellent views down the valley. There were 6 of us across 3 rooms, all of which had modern bathrooms with shower/bath and good beds with cable TV. Dinner was 4 course buffet and for the price very good. Breakfast was very good with a choice of hot and cold foods in plentiful supply. The staff were brilliant, they collected our bags from the train station so we could go directly to ski and the same on the last day. If you would like an old fashioned hotel with a small walk to the gondola then this is perfect. Shame no free wireless but you can`t have everything.

We had a great 5-day stay here. We booked last minute and decided to go half-board for a change. It's an old hotel and could do with a refurbishment but it has a lot of charm.

First the room: it was tired! The decor was very dated, but it was perfectly clean and the bed was comfy once we masterd rolling up the pillows to stop them collapsing when we lay on them. No tea or coffee-making equipment, which is a shame when you come in from a day hiking and are exhausted. The bathroom was modern and well-equipped with bath and good shower. We had a view over the hills. There was some noise from other floors (poor sound insulation between floors and rooms) which is to be expected in a hotel of this age but is a bit annoying. The hotel was not very busy during our stay and I imagine it could get noisy at full capacity.

The food was perfectly okay. After a few days we got a bit fed up with it, but it was edible and there was plenty of fruit and veg available so it wasn't entirely stodge. The dining room was clearly beautiful once and it could be that way again. I would love to renovate it as it certainly looks a bit sad now! The waiting staff were very friendly and polite. They seemed to be mainly Eastern European and spoke lots of languages (English, French, German, Italian...). They didn't mind filling our thermos flask with hot water every morning.

The bar area was nice and we enjoyed a beer in the sunshine on the terrace looking up at the mountains.

Location is excellent - a short walk from the train station in Wengen and it's very easy to reach Kleine Scheidegg and the Jungfrau. There are lots of hiking trails nearby. All-in-all a great stay.

Don't stay here if you choose half board - the food was diabolical every night. Unbelievably bad and no kids menu unless you asked and then it was only chicken nuggets - lucky we had a big lunch because we didn't eat much dinner and the kids had nuggets every night. The last night we gave up and went out - can highly recommend the Eiger restaurant!

the room was also very small - and had a bunk bed - it was a family room. In short except for the bar which was lovely and the amazing service - thank you Francisco and Beata and Roberto and the other staff this place is not recommended.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in Wengen. Located in the Alps above Lauderbrunnen, Switzerland. From the lobby to dining room to bedroom were decorated in great taste and charm. The front desk sent a golf cart to the train station to pick us up. The only way to get to Wengen is by train. Leave your car in the parking garage in Lauderbrunnen. Perfectly safe place. Walk from train statin to hotel is about a 5-8 min walk slightly uphill. Lobby staff very helpful and polite. Spoke english well. Rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable. With our reservation we had a free breakfast. They had a table reserved for us and a delicious breakfast. Computer in lobby to use internet. It did cost 2e per 5 minutes. We loved this hotel and highly recommend it! Only down thing is the train again is the only way to access the town and it cost about 15e ($20) per person per round trip, so plan your time to avoid a lot of up and downs.

We were looking for a hotel in Wengen with great views, and the location of the Hotel Belvedere is perfect as it sits above the village of Wengen with (almost) unobstructed views of the Jungfrau and the Lauterbrunnen valley. I booked directly with the hotel and asked for a room with the best view possible. Our room, 306 was on the 4th level and had a magnificent view which we could enjoy from inside the room and the small balcony. The room was small and recently decorated by somebody's grandmother, including an ancient TV. The bathroom was new and clean. The breakfast buffet was very nice and had something for everyone. We stayed for dinner two nights and the fixed price meal had 3 entree choices, unlimited salad, soup and dessert and was a bargain at 25 Swiss Francs. The wine list was excellent with wines of Italy, France and Switzerland. The hotel bar is very relaxing and the overall feel of the hotel is old-timey, complete with old furniture, some antiques and quite a few pensioners. There was also an old reading room/library and covered porch. The hotel is located up the hill from the Wengen train station, about a 10 minute, easy walk. Service from the hotel staff was very friendly and excellent all-around.
