Booked because it was in Wengen, opposite station, near main lift and most importantly close to nursery slope for six year old's first ski trip. Nearly as important was the pool and spa for wife who is not an avid skier and for child if she didn't take to skiing. Location therefore was perfect for what we wanted and it proved to be a good choice.Out of boot room, short walk to lift or station or nursery slope. Perfect.

It is a three star. Don't expect super luxury. Good points. Pool is brilliant before or after a days skiing. Just avoid the "dragon" who occasionally patrols it. Location. Perfect. It has a games room for kids, a gym, spa and on good days you can ski in and out.

The not so good points. They say all the rooms are " south facing"! Depends which compass you use and how far you can lean. No tea and coffee making facilities in room and if you want to cool your wine and emmental stick it outside on the little balcony. Rooms are pretty drab and functional and you wonder if it has changed since the 1930's. hence in these power hungry days if you want to charge two I pads and two mobile phones (sorry essential for business which pays for this holiday) you will have to unplug a lamp and charge in shifts.

Then there is the food. You are allocated a table with a number and a waitress. Breakfast is fine. It is the usual buffet affair. If you want a fry up forget it, but it is good enough. However, I have never had such a bizarre collection of dishes for dinner. Don't get me wrong, there is enough and the service is fine and friendly but the combinations are weird. According to the rep, the Swiss have an unusual take on fine dining and this was it. Unusual is a word which is appropriate.

Hey, it was warm, welcoming and good enough. A good refurb and it could be rather good. (If they changed the chef).

Room Tip: Didn't get a choice of room, but if you do, let me know how you do it!

Just got back from a 2 week stay at this great hotel in the centre of Wengen. The staff and the manageress were so friendly and helpful within every part of the hotel, spa and restaurant. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean, as is the whole hotel. We were worried about getting bored of the food but each evening was different, even the children's menu was good if my son didn't fancy the adults menu. The spa is definitely the highlight of the hotel after a long days walking, to come back to a swim, sauna and jacuzzi jets, not forgetting the lazy river!! There is a gym and games room which we used the table tennis table every evening but the pool tables could do with a makeover.

Room Tip: We had a South facing room which was great on the first floor, but the terrace area was very drab. Maybe the second floor with individual balconies might be better.

I think this was the best hotel for families in the whole of Wengen, the price seems a lot but you get to go in the pool for free and there is also a huge games room which also free. The rooms were very nice and very cosy and sleep quality was great. The food in their restaurants was of the utmost quality but pretty pricey as is everything in the town. The railway station, souvenir shops and supermarkets were less than a two minute walk. The free wifi was good and you also got a discount on the tennis courts, and mini golf if you stayed at the hotel. There was a playground with swings, a giant chess board and a lovely flower garden which my children loved. The staff were very friendly and spoke fluently in many languages, there was a lot of storage space in the rooms. It was all top notch except the price but you got so many things included like breakfast and entertainment and good location. GOOD FOR FAMILIES.

Room Tip: corner rooms are bigger but they are for families we stayed in 501

The staff were very friendly, helpful, fluent in many languages and great with young children. Having a pool was wonderful but it is a "relaxation" pool so it is fine if the children are old enough to know to whisper as opposed to scream with joy! There was a small playground too which children loved and outdoor chess board. Food again great and offered a choice for children too. Very good value for money. The location is stunning and 2 minutes walk to the train station so all very easy. Would recommend highly.

Room Tip: They do have family rooms which give you more space but some of their doubles are bigger and they will put up beds for children 9up to age of 12 they stay free).

Conveniently situated, just a couple of minutes walk from the railway station. The room was clean and comfortable - standard type of hotel room. A fridge would have been welcome. The beds were adjustable and fabulously comfortable! All the staff we met were really pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good with a nice variety. The associated public restaurant Pasta and More was good, food was reasonably priced and the staff were excellent - we had two meals there.
The pool was wonderful! The rapids great fun!!
The only criticism was of the terrace adjoining our room - this area, although allowing wonderful views, looked neglected and could do with smartening up -shame it let the hotel down rather. But everything else was fine!
