Very great location in car-free Wengen. Near the train station, very central. Good starting point for excursions and hikes.
The rooms are Basic, but clean and good Service.
The Spa is veryfantastic. The breakfast and the dinner are very fine.
Very friendly staff and generally good Service.
Fair prices. Quiet location.

Great location in car-free Wengen directly beside the train station. The hotel has a service which picks up your bags at station in Lauterbrunnen and brings them up the mountain for you.

Rooms are very basic, spartan, and do not look like they have been upgraded in quite some time, bout they were very clean and comfortable.

GREAT PERK of hotel is spa in basement. It is free to guests and is spacious with a HUGE and beautiful relaxation pool, sauna, steam room, etc. Spa is super modern and elegant and is the complete opposite of rooms.

Overall a great visit. VERY quiet town, no real nightlife or pubs except one. Very sleepy village great for a visit to unwind and relax and hiking up into the mountains with wonderful views.

Hotel also has a miniscule fitness room with a couple pieces of outdated equipment.

Room Tip: There is a newer building that is part of hotel. Definitely looks like it is worth paying for an upg...

We stayed here as a family of 4 at end of ski season. It was an excellent hotel for family in many ways - excellent breakfasts, comfortable and reasonable pasta restaurant, game room with pool table and ping-pong, swimming pool, movie room and popcorn machine. Our kids had the run of the place and loved it, as did their two cousins who preferred it over their more fancy but less comfortable hotel in Kleine Scheidigg. We had a suite with kids' sleeping area in a separate loft which worked well. Other pluses were location -- very close to train station, with train the only way to get to town in the winter, and close to ski lift -- good ski locker arrangements, and fabulous mountain views. Only complaint is that the front desk staff were consistently either unhelpful or stupid or both - they did ordinary things, like getting our ski passes in advance, perfectly well, but on any slightly unusual request they would smile and give wrong answers. Examples: could they show the movie night movie in English not German for our crowd of 4 kids who were the entire audience (when asked in advance: sure; when asked at the time, with the kids settled in front of the screen with pajamas and popcorn: impossible. We wished they had told us no the first time.) , can they allow us to use hotel dryer for our wet ski stuff at a particular hour, early before staff needed it (same, yes the night before, no when we tried to do it), can we get diplomatic tax refund of value added tax (same, the staff did not know how this Swiss law works and refused to do what they were required to). So don't expect helpful service or correct information from the smiling front desk staff if you ask for anything out of the ordinary, but otherwise this hotel is a great place for a family to stay.

I don't know why when I have asked for my friend slept there in the hotel the receptionist REFUSED to gave me information about the person I needed to meet at that moment (if my friend was there or the room number). The reasons? Receptionist " We can't leave any information about our guests" !!!!! It was happen during the ski world cup for 3 consecutively days!
I have been travelling around the world but I never heard something similar before!!!!

I traveled to Wengen for a 7 day ski trip in March 2013 and enjoyed every aspect of this hotel. The location is second to none. The rooms are well sized, comfortable, clean and well maintained. I had a room in the new annex of the hotel with two reasonable sized balconies on the 3rd floor. There are great views to the south overlooking courtyard and train station with mountains in the background. Stunning :)

The shower room was small containing just the toilet and shower cubical. At 6 foot tall and on the larger size the cubical was small but manageable. The shower head is low but you can hand hold. Some of the fixtures, soap holder in particular are in convenient places for the fitter but not if your in there trying to have a shower without hitting your elbows on anything.

The room had a wall hung LCD TV with 100's of cable channels in every language. The number English spoken channels is limited but the package also has a huge choice of radio channels including the main BBC channels.

The room was lacking in any tea/coffee facilities which was a little disappointing .

The beds were fantastic. Austrian twins with great linens. The pillows weer a little flat for me but housekeeping delivered two more on request. Anyone not familiar with Austrian twin beds should be aware. These are larger single beds pushed together to make a larger double but there's a small gap between the beds. You get your own single size duvet cover as well. Austrian twins can be easily separated should you want to create two singles but keep in mind that the surrounding furniture or headboards my limit the distance by which you can separate the beds.

Location wise the hotel is well positioned opposite the train station and 60 steps to the Mannlichen Cable Car or children's ski school. All of the shops, bars and restaurants are close by but the hotel remains quiet and well insulated from outside noise.

The hotel has a good restaurant, menu and wine list. Prices are typically Swiss. The main dining room is large and can get busy at peak times. The staff are polite, helpful and speak many languages. I had a half board deal and sat down every morning to a typical breakfast buffet with tea/coffee and juices. The evening meals were based around a starter then soup or salad, a main meal and desert. A bottle of house wine, very good selections, coast ca 40 CHF. All in a great selection of food and drink. Tap water is FREE but only if you order a wine of beer beverage, otherwise a small fee of 3CHF per jug is charged.

The hotel also has a great little bar, meeting place, coffee shop and a sublet pasta franchise.

The staff are polite and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and they work very hard to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as can be.

The ski/boot/bike room is a handy feature with lots of space both heated and unheated with separate entry/exit is great.

The hotel offers a full range of spa treatments at reasonable prices. A fitness room full of modern equipments and a coffee terrace.

Skiing wise the choice is fantastic. For the competent skier I recommend the all area ski pass. The choice for skiing is huge with opportunities to go off piste at pretty much any point. The lifts are OK, using the train works but can be slow. The people are very friendly and the on slope restaurant choice is varied.

I highly recommend this hotel. If you found this review helpful please click on the helpful button. If you'd like to chat more or ask questions please send me a message.

Thank you for reading and I wish you an enjoyable trip. JJ

Room Tip: Ask for a high room in the new annex facing south . . .

Form the outside this place looks like a grand hotel, although from the inside it has a style of a travel lodge.... although don't be put off by this, it's just a bit or a surprise when you walk in !

The location is A1 and is a snowballs through from the main lift, the ski store and boot room are located at street level so it's straight out to the lift in the mornings.

The Spa and wellness area is the best bit.... The salt pool which is as warm as a bath is amazing, as is the 'adults' (due to the nakedness) spa area which includes a steam room and sauna, along with a ICE cold dip pool and a Luke warm dip pool... There is a fantastic chill out zone, which unless you search for you won't find... Head out the door and up the stairs for a panoramic view and loungers.

The rooms are clean and functional... food in the restaurant was surprisingly good and service great.

All in all a great hotel in a great location, with a great spa...

PS... The only thing missing is a boot warmer in the boot store !!

Room Tip: Try and get one with a balcony with a view over the station, the sun set was amazing !
