We stayed at Hotel Baeren as part of an inn-to-inn hiking trip. The rooms were lovely and modern while still maintaining a lovely Swiss character. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Can't wait to return someday. Can't recommend highly enough!

Room Tip: Be sure to get one of the mountain view rooms - the view from the balcony is breathtaking.

We were a family of 4, originally booked for 3 nights and extended our stay by an additional night.
We stayed in 2 connected rooms.
The rooms, especially the rooms with balconies, are spacious, well equipped, modern and comfortable.
Breakfast and dinner are very good.
The owners and the hotel staff are friendly and helpful.
To sum up, we enjoyed our stay very much.

My husband and I just got back from an amazing 4 night stay at the Hotel Baeren in Switzerland and we absolutely loved it. It truly felt like coming home after a long day out sightseeing/hiking the beautiful mountains. We opted for the half board and thought it was worth the money (especially given how expensive Switzerland is-the price you pay for half board is VERY reasonable). The breakfast was light but very delicious, especially the home-made strawberry jam! The dinner was a set dinner which rotated every night and we didn't have much of a choice to choose anything else without paying additional- but my husband and I are not picky eaters so we were fine with the set menu because the dinner was alwaysdelicious. The room was very large and comfortable for 2 adults. We stayed in the mountain view balcony room and felt it was worth the additional cost as the views of the mountains were amazing. Fair warning- the rooms do not have AC (at least not in my room) and in the afternoon the sun hits the balcony window and it gets pretty hot in the room. However, as we are from Miami and used to the heat, this didn't really bother us. There were also some nights that we slept with the balcony window open as it gets pretty stuffy without AC but it was nice waking up in the morning to the sounds of the town waking up. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station and the central part of Wengen so access to the market, bank, bakery and stores were also nearby. The hotel also has free umbrellas to use on rainy days (came very useful to us 1 day), a cute kiddy playroom in the basement, free shuttle service to the train station to help with the bags(hotel sits on the bottom of a steep hill) and a welcome bottle of water/chocolates too. My only complaint is that the beds were very hard and pillows very flat so this may bother some people-it bothered my husband but not me-it depends on how you like your bed :)

Last but not least, I cannot rave enough about how fabulous the service is at this hotel. The owner really knows what she's doing and has an amazing staff who cater to everyone's needs all with a smile. I felt like I was staying at someone's home and being welcomed to their family. We didn't want to leave at the end of our trip! We are already planning on coming back and staying here again but this time we are bringing our entire family to stay here!! Cannot wait to come back!

Room Tip: Mountain view balcony room is worth it!

I spent a week at the hotel in August 2013 and had a wonderful time. I had a single room which did not have a view of the mountains and was simple but it had everything one could need including a great shower. One is greeted in the room with chocolate and a bottle of mineral water. My seven day stay included the Jungfrau pass which enables one to travel all over the region by train, bus, or cable car and also included breakfast (cereal, breads, cheeses, home made jams, cold meats, hard boiled eggs, yoghurt, fruit) and fabulous four course dinners. The staff are all helpful and pleasant and care about making one's experience pleasant. The wi-fi in the room was free and worked well. The hotel is near the train station. Wengen is in the middle of the most gorgeous area I have ever visited. If you like to hike, this is the place. If you don't, you can still see wonderful sites by using the travel pass. For older visitors, the hotel does not have an elevator and the five minute walk to the station and town is steep.

We stayed here for 7 nights half board with Junganfrau pass included. Our room was lovely & clean and even though we were only on the first floor we had a good view of the mountains. All meals at the hotel were very tasty with great service. We would love to come back & visit again. There is so much to see & do especially with the Junganfrau pass. We would highly recommend this hotel.
