Returned today from just over two weeks' stay at the hotel Baeren and for the first time ever feel the need to send in a review to tripadvisor! What a lovely hotel - a real home from home. Relaxed and relaxing, simple, comfortable and yet stylish and with the most friendly and welcoming hosts and staff (without exception). We stayed in the beautiful Lobhorn room at the top of the hotel - stylish and comfortable and with the best view of the mountains from the wonderful bathtub or balcony! We stayed half board and every evening enjoyed a delicious 4 course meal, beautifully presented, and prepared from fresh local ingredients. We looked forward to every meal and cleaned every plate!!! We cannot recommend the hotel highly enough - just please don't book the room when we want to return!

Room Tip: The newly rennovated rooms are lovely and have fantastic views from their balconies - the Lobhorn room is the star of the show and worth it for the space and the bathtub with a view!

Stayed here for 1 week with my wife. Took the newly renovated double room with balcony. The view from our room was so beautiful, words could not describe the view at all. Room is equipped with tea making facilities, seatings on the balcony, and room is spacious. We took the package with dinner and breakfast. Mind you, the food is high class restaurant quality. We really couldn't get enough of the dinner. They can accomodate vegetarians, or any other requirements, just tell them ahead. Breakfast has ample selections.
Therese, the owner, was so friendly, cheerful, and attentive to details.
Hotel is near to the Wengen train station.
Overall, we both really wanted to stay longer if only we weren't limited to 1 month time frame in Europe.

Room Tip: Stay longer than 5 days and get a room with balcony. That is why you come to Wengen, it's for the view and view alone can take your breath away.

Stayed in the hotel with my wife a couple of weeks back. The hotel was less than 10min walk from the train station and situated in a quiet spot away from the city centre but having a direct view of the mountains. The room that we stayed in, was modern, well-decorated, comfortable, clean, had a great view overlooking the mountains. Our room also had a balcony, which is probably the best place to enjoy the view of the alps in the evenings.

Food in the hotel restaurant was really good too and we would highly recommend you to try out the restaurant even if you are not planning on staying in the hotel but just visiting Wengen. Moreover, the hotel also had a very large and sunny terrace that you can just sit and enjoy the alps and the garden.

Last but not least, helpful and friend service. Definitely one of the best hotels to stay in Wengen or even Switzerland.

Wife and I stayed here for two nights and got a room on the first floor. Wouldve preferred something higher but they didn't have any available. Even so the view of jungfrau mountains was amazing during daytime and evening from the balcony. The rooms have very large windows that open up to the balcony where you can sit and relax. If you're on the first floor you may find yourself immediately above the restaurants outside seating area. The balconies on the same floor are all connected and don't have any dividers between rooms. Not a huge issue but could be for some who are concerned with privacy especially since the inside of your room can be visible from your neighbors balcony (although partially).

The food at the restaurant was amazing and included in the room charge. It was a 4 course meal and each one was prepared very well and presented beautifully. My wife is a vegetarian and they accommodated that as well. If you'd like a seating area with a view you should request it ahead of time. On our first night we were seated far away from everything and it felt a bit strange but soon enough the restaurant filled up and we understood why. The breakfast is as boring as the dinner was exciting. It's not bad though, fairly standard and typical and all self service. Didn't mind it.

The service was good not great. The room was nice and comfortable. Bathroom was okay, only liquid soap provided and the bath towels heavily used. When we walked in to the hotel we noticed a 2 star sign at the door. Not sure if it's classified as a 2 star or 3 but our overall experience was very good and I am basing this review on a 3 star rating.

The walk from the train station is about 3-5 minutes and fairly straightforward. It's a bit steep climbing back up but not too bad. Would stay here again.

My husband and I have just returned home from an amazing 11 nights at The Baren. While there I celebrated my 50th Birthday, and we celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The table was decorated very tastefully for my b,day and the staff sang happy birthday at our table, which was a lovely touch. This is our 2nd visit in 3 years and most definately won't be our last ! We simply cannot fault this Hotel. Willy & Therese are simply the best. ! They provided us with so much information about the area, hiking trails etc.....The rooms have been updated to a high standard but there was'nt anything wrong with them before ! The food is simply delicious , even for a vegetarian who does not eat Pasta. No omelettes here, which is usually all i get offered elsewhere, The staff are 1st class. Very efficient and friendly. What more can i say !!?? Except for a Big THANK YOU to all at The Baren !

Room Tip: Ask for a Balcony to enjoy the views
