we booked the Jungfrau view room and would recommend it to everyone... its worth every extra rupee, dollar, euro, frank, or whatever currency you are paying in... although the other side rooms (which shows street behind the hotel and empty land) are not bad... but nothing beats this... sitting at the beautifully flower decorated terrace, in the morning, watching clouds rise above Jungfrau... that was amazing...

the hotel staff were very helpful... very nice and could speak in fluent english...

there is nothing much to do in the evening... other than walk around and relax...

while we were there... didnt see much of a night life.. but there were a couple of nice pubs on the other side of the street...

A very disappointing visit to usually decent Best Western hotel branches. This one is independently owned and so it's not a surprise that quality can vary. My visit began with condescending and borderline rude attitude at the front desk. No recognition of my diamond elite status and no benefits were provided related to the brand allegiance. My first room was dirty and the bathroom smelled of vomit. I was offered another room by waiting an hour and the second room was better. Overall hotel decor is outdated, rooms were both sparsely decorated and worn. Overpriced for what you get. There is NO free WIFI nor free access to the lobby computer. The spa is clean and nicely appointed. Breakfast was fine.

I felt threatened at the hotel by the intimidating front desk and other staff. As a single young white male I'm not sure what was going on, but I had to get out of the hotel. I found another hotel nearby and told the front desk I would be checking out first thing in the morning. Upon checking out they tried to charge me for the entire stay I had booked even through my reservation did not indicate a minimum stay. Even after leaving the hotel and paying for my 1 night's stay, they tried to bill my credit card for the remainder of the reservation.

I would never, ever, recommend anybody to stay at this property when there are many, many other delightful and better value properties within 100m.

I have now stayed at the Hotel Silberhorn 6 times - both in summer and winter and this hotel is fantastic. I was shocked to read the earlier reviewers comments that the Hotel Silberhorn should not be a 4 star hotel and their comments that the restaurant was poor and the hotel shabby - this is absolutely not true. As a very frequent world traveller with exceptionally high standards, I can assure you that this hotel is of the highest standard, in the best of locations. in the wonderful village of Wengen. This hotel is in typical Swiss style, is immaculately clean, the food is excellent, the new Wellness Spa is truly first class and the staff are fantastic. As a skier, the location is also wonderful, as are the ski storage facilities. Having also stayed at the Regina in Wengen, I rate the Hotel Silberhorn as the better hotel and have therefore regularly returned to stay there, with my next stay already booked for skiing in February. If you are making a choice on which hotel to pick in Wengen - you can do no better than the Silberhorn.

This hotel is within a few steps of the train station, and has a wonderful view of the mountains. The front desk staff was excellent. In mid-September, we had to borrow a fan (ventilator to them) because it was too warm to sleep without leaving balcony door open (no air conditioning). Unfortunately, this hotel taught us a valuable lesson I'd like to pass on: Be sure you either take the half-board meal plan (which we did not want) or come here on a guided tour, because those two groups have assigned seating and ,if tour groups are in-house, other hotel guests for breakfast have nowhere to sit (even when the tables are empty, they are "reserved" for the others who may have already come and gone for the day). From now on, I would not select a hotel that caters to tour groups, which I did not realize this one did.

This hotel is set halfway up the mountain and is only accessible by train. It is right next to the quaint little train station and has the most spectacular location imaginable. The rooms are comfortable and the free breakfast is delicious, but the best part of the hotel is the Wellness Center!

The Wellness Center is brand new and has two sauna's, a steam room, really cool showers, a hot tub, and room full of lounge chairs that overlook the mountains. It was so relaxing and enjoyable... I felt like royalty! You can also have massages or use the sunbed if you pay extra.

Who cares if the carpet in the hallways is a bit old... the view, location and spa make up for it!

I highly recommend going to Wengen and staying at the Best Western Silberhorn.

P.S. A Tip for travellers. Take the gondola up to Mannlichen- It only costs 40 Franks and the views are amazing. I would recommend this over the train to Jungfraujoch which is like 160 Franks.

It does no credit to the Swiss reputation for high quality hotels to classify this establishment as a four star hotel. At best, this is a three star hotel and even that could be debated!

Major problems include:
1. The quality of food and service dished out in the awful 1st floor dining room is anything but refined and worthy of 4 stars. It is certainly not the fine dining expected of a four star hotel. Evening meals consist of 5 courses of mediocre and partially edible food served up unappetisingly. Some examples of cheap poor quality fare include: semi raw chicken leg stuffed with spinach, Austrian beef stew with low quality rubbery meat, watery frozen fish stew on a pile of watery risotto!, Italian night with pasta but no parmesan! etc. The service is also very mediocre with indifferent attitude and no one in charge to greet guests or ask if everything is okay. The owner of the hotel, Giovanni, acknowledges that there are serious problems with the food and service here yet has not resolved the problem. I can only assume this is to keep his costs as low as possible.
2. With the exception of the recent spa, the hotel needs a complete refurbishment to improve its shabby old fittings. The carpet in the lobby is disgusting, the small inadequate lift rattles atrociously and is incredibly slow, the superior room balconies desperately need repainting and their cheap old plastic furniture replaced, the heating system in the bathroom and shower rail and sink were all in a state of poor repair that could (and did) cause injury, the old polyester bed sheets need replacing with new high quality linen ones that are not covered in uncomfortable nylon bobbles, etc.
3. The wellness centre in the spa needs to have a full-time trained massage therapist rather than a trainee therapist who was absent until further notice.

Overall, this hotel has probably received its four stars thanks to its glitzy new spa but there is no way this hotel is a genuine four star hotel (such as the Beausite Park Hotel and the Hotel Regina in Wengen). This is a shabby budget hotel that gives a very poor reputation to the standards of Swiss tourism and the Best Western chain. Furthermore, luxury tour operators such as Kuoni who should not be offering such low quality accommodation.

Okay so my husband and I stayed there for 1 night. Let me stay off by saying that i booked this hotel 8 months prior to arrival and requested a room with the best view (pretty safe to assume that they didn't have very many reservations then), well when we got there i was check into a nice room with nice much of a view because it was on the 2nd floor overlooking a roof and train station. I was mad because of how early I booked, well we were able to get a room on the 4th floor and the room was very nice and the view just amazing!!! Also after looking at the pictures online I thought the hotel would be secluded, but no it's like right in the middle of the busiest part of this small town right across the train station- that was a big surprise. Overall, we had an amazing stay sitting on our balcony and admiring the views.
