We stayed at the Alpenrose for a one week walking holiday and really enjoyed the experience. We had a lovely clean room, South facing, and were looked after by pleasant and friendly staff. The food was very good, especially the fondue evening, and all-in-all we would highly recommend this hotel.

We spent 5 nights in Hotel Alpenrose during our honeymoon trip. All staffs were very friendly and helped us whenever we need. The best place we stayed in our trip to Switzerland! The hotel is located in a beautiful part of Wengen, 10 minutes walk from the train station. We chose south facing superior room with a balcony , where we could spent pleasant time just wondering the view. The breakfast is rich and since we chose half board, we didn't have to worry about what or where to eat, after a day full of activities. Indeed, the dinner is very good and every day they changed the menu. The beef foundue was memorable! We surely will comeback o Alpenrose, as we considered as our second home in Switzerland!

Lovely family run hotel. Tasteful rooms with great views and comfortable bed. Wonderful lawn out front with lounge chairs and small tables to hang out and have snacks or chat. with fantastic views. Nice breakfast and half board dinner which is a great value since restaurants are expensive in the area. Free wifi in lobby.

We stayed at the Alpenrose middle of July 2011. We found the hotel to be fabulous. We stayed in a superior room, south facing with balcony and the views were stunning. The room was very traditional in style and decor and exactly what we wanted from this type of holiday. It was spotlessly clean and had a small sitting area that was very welcomed when coming back in after a day's walking, as was the garden area when it wasn't raining.

Rooms did not have tea/coffee facilities or a safe for valuables and feel these would have been a bonus.

We booked bed and breakfast with the intention of eating out, however, the best food we had was in the hotel, it was excellent and we would probably book half board next time.

All areas of the hotel were also well decorated and very very clean. Agree with many of the other reviews in that the staff are extremely welcoming (yes, you do have to go looking for someone if you want a drink but it's not a problem) and we are definitely looking to return to the hotel, probably in the winter/spring time.

A big thank you to the staff for a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: South facing superior rooms had lots of space, great sitting area and fabulous views.

Arrived at the Alpenrose with sick wife in tow. Reception was great - skipped check in and took us upstairs swiftly where I was able to get my straight to bed. Room was cosy (ie small) but had a stunning view. Evening meal was great though the waiting staff a little stand-offish. However overal quality of food was good. My wife made a miraculous recovery so we were able able to continue our journey the following day. Position wise - down a steep hill from railway station - wouldn't be good for those with limited mobility, but on the plus side it's very peaceful and views are stunning. Overall, a good choice for those on a walking holiday.

Management and staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and attentive. They are all so obliging, nothing is a problem Rooms are spotless. Our room on level 2, with south facing balcony, had been recently renovated with beautiful bathroom and magnificent alpine views. There was in-room TV with live webcam. Dinner was a highlight. After a day's hiking this five-course meal was a delight - and great value. Every morning after a wonderful breakfast, "What's on for dinner" was a must know before heading out for the day. A refreshing drink in the garden was welcome after the day's exercise, whilst admiring the breathtaking views and soaking up the hospitality. I cannot fault this wonderful hotel and without a doubt, a return trip to Wengen will certainly include Alpenrose. We had friends staying at Hotel Regina. We found the hotel and rooms dark and very dated. No comparison with Alpenrose.

It is only classified as a 3 Star Hotel, but we booked it based upon its reviews, rather than our usual 5 Star hotels. It is only 5 mins from the station, albeit a bit of a climb up on the way back.
When youy arrive you feel as though you're visiting someone's home. There are several lounge areas to sit and relax or have a drink, which is good as the bedrooms are quite small. The staff soon get to know you and you don't have to sign for anything as you go.
You are allocated a table in the restaurant at the start of your visit and keep that for the stay. Try to get one near the windows. We were on half board and there is a set dinner menu, but it was varied and the 5 courses plus cheese left you full up after a day's walking. The meat fondue on a Friday night is highly recommended.
Very few restaurants in Wengen, apart form hotels, so half board highly recommended.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, but not pushy, although you may have to go and find them if you want a drink. It seems to have a very high loyalty factor with lots of repeat guests.
Overall, excellent value for money, great position, and an ideal place to come back to and relax after a hard day's sightseeing.

Room Tip: The north facing rooms just look at a mountain face, so go for the South west facing rooms. The high...
