The Edelweiss is a lovely, hotel in a lovely setting. Daniel, the proprietor, is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Meals were wonderful. Would recommend this to anyone! I did not find the room small at all and the building was in excellent condition. I didn't know it was older! Perhaps there have been renovations lately. What views! Don't miss this one.

Room Tip: Why would you need AC here? Very quiet and peaceful. Ask Daniel about rooms. He will tell you hon...

exactly what we were looking for. Wengen in storybook perfect and Daniel, the hotel operator was outstanding. Wengen is accessed only by train and is thus pedestrian only. The cows were about and just coming down from the high pastures in early October when we were there. The snow on the surrounding peaks made for spectacular hiking. We took the Mannlichen gondola up from Wengen and hiked to the Wengeralp train stop (about 2.5 hr going slowly) it was great, very nice gradual trail. I will definitely be back, and again can't say enough good about the operator and his kindness to his guests. This place was the highlight of our 2 weeks in Europe.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked Murren and the Valley below, I can't imagine a better view.

We spent 3 weeks touring Switzerland this August and simply loved Wengen and the Hotel Edelweiss. The hotel is charming. Our room was comfortable and clean and had a simply gorgeous view. The staff, especially Daniel the manager, was fantastic, helping us in every way. The breakfast buffet was first rate and on two of the evenings we had extremely good dinners there as well. This hotel deserves it's number one ranking!

Wengen is a wonderful base for a stay in this part of Switzerland and the Edelweiss is a good choice for lodging. As others have stated, the rooms and baths are a bit on the small side, but are clean and simply furnished. It is an older property but very well maintained. Views from our room (109) were wonderful because we had windows on two walls (south and west). Breakfasts (provided as a part of the room) were very good European style including, in addition to many other items, fresh great (unique) breads and wonderful coffee in a room looking directly at the Jungfrau. At about $175 (US) per night, it is a bargain for the region. We visited many of the other villages in the valley and on the west shoulder and were very happy with our choice of location.

Room Tip: As others have said, it is a bit steep from the train to the hotel, but you can't be in the Alps...

We stayed for 3 nights in early Sept in room 104. The room was very clean. The balcony was very spacious with a great view. Very helpful staff. Bathroom was tiny. They had the old fashion blow dryer on the wall. No shampoo. Just soap dispensers.
Disappointments:
- no wifi in the room. They did show us room 107 to switch to which was not updated, much smaller room and smaller balcony. We opted to stay in the room and use the lobby for wifi.
- the walk from the hotel to the train is exhausting if you have any breathing, walking issues, or heavy luggage. All up hill.
- breakfast - no fresh fruit. Instead had fruit cocktail.
We did not try the dinner at the hotel. Got back too late or the translation did not sound appealing.

I have traveled widely in Europe and the Far East but have NEVER, ever, been given such a TINY ROOM.
Entering the room you have to do a sideways shuffle to get between the wardrobe and a square table, on which I had to put my suitcase, since there was no suitcase stand.
The heating wasn't working (evenings were chilly). On the first occasion the man from reception (not Daniel) said I'd set it incorrectly and succeeded in getting one third of the radiator warm. I suggested there might be air in the radiator but was ignored. On the second evening the radiator was completely cold again. Reported it to the same man, who said he's come up and have a look at it. I sat waiting for an hour but he never came.
The extractor fan in the bathroom wasn't working (you couldn't hear it running). Consequently the bathroom didn't smell quite, er, fresh. The cleaning staff, perhaps aware of this, left the bathroom door wide open. The result was that the whole room didn't smell quite fresh either.
Breakfasts were very good and hotel facilities, e.g. library, reception were attractive.
I am not saying that couples or families wouldn't have a better experience but I would NEVER recommend this hotel for a SINGLE TRAVELER. Frankly I was left with the feeling that, as a single traveler I wasn't really worth bothering with.
They will arrange for a taxi to take you and your heavy suitcase up the steep hill to the station..... but be warned that it it will cost you £10.40 for a 4 min ride.

3 nights stayed is unforgettable. When we check in, Mr. Daniel gave us a warm welcome. He is very nice and helpful. My room size is good but toilet a bit smaller but manageable for us ;)) I had the mountain view from my window, very scenic but our arrival didn't gave us good weather. It was raining. Breakfast and Dinner (CHF25/ 4 Course) was perfect.

10mins to reach the hotel, you need to walk up to COOP supermarket from the train station then go downhill through a small tunnel follow the road will be able to see the hotel on your right side.

We all agreed that the stayed were simply wonderful. It feel like home.
