“Awesome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

I don't use the word awesome very much. I'm too old. Still, when we opened our door and saw the view from our window, my mouth dropped open. My wife couldn't figure out how to react and just started laughing out loud. We had a room on the third floor facing the mountains. A double door and window give a view I will probably never see from a hotel room again.

We stayed for three nights in April, 2013. Our room was bright and sunny. Everything was clean and tidy. The bathroom was large with a full, deep tub which turned out to be a wonderful treat after a particularly cold evening walk. A heated towel bar made it easy to dry some things that needed to be hand washed.

There is a nice bar and a large entertainment area. My wife and I had some very hotly contested foosball games. After my glorious victories, the staff served us dessert next to the field of battle.

Breakfast was modest, but not lacking. Oddly, even though the hotel was mostly empty due to the season, we were assigned a table. it wasn't a problem, but another couple coming in after us one morning that asked to sit somewhere not right next to us were politely refused. Fortunately we all got along great.

We had dinner the first night. It was very good, but not particularly outstanding. We discovered that in April, Eiger is one of only two or three restaurants open in Murren. It is expensive, but it seems everything is in Switzerland.

Service was good. I was particularly thankful to the proprietor for happily allowing me to pay part of my bill with my remaining Swiss Francs and the rest with a credit card.

We loved our stay in Murren and cannot recommend the Eiger Guesthouse enough.

Room Tip: Face the mountains. Face the mountains. Face the mountains.

Make sure you ask for rooms facing the mountains. We stayed in room#4 which was mountain facing. You will see Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger mountains from the room. Rooms are good according to European standards but nothing fancy. The restaurant/bar downstairs is open till 9pm. And they have a pool table too! It's located right across Murren BLM station. There is no elevator (/lift). So be prepared to carry your luggages through stairs. The people are very helpful and speak English. You get a free pass for the nearby sports club (which has a swimming pool) for the days you saty here.

A word of caution - everyone loves this hotel; hence book super early. We booked in Feb for a stay in May and only 2 rooms were left!

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain facing room.

We spent 3 nights here in Murren in May. A delightful village and a quiet time of year. Perfect for walking and the weather cleared enough for us to enjoy great views from Piz Gloria. I'd arranged the Eiger Guesthouse as pat of a surprise trip for my wife. Ema, the owner, was attentive from the very beginning and this continued on our arrival in Murren. The staff here are fantastic - truly charming, friendly and a pleasure to meet - they looked after us a treat. We ate here too and the food is excellent.
Will we be back? Most definitely. Thank you to you all for making us so welcome and for making our stay so special.

Room Tip: Mountain view!

A friend and I shared a great couple of days in Murren. One thing we didn't realize was that it would be such a slow season in May (between ski and hiking seasons) so very little was open. We were fortunate to find such a great, bright, clean, comfortable, friendly place at the Eiger Guesthouse. A great location right off the train. Great location for hikes, and catching the cable car to the Schilthorn. A magical location. Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Stayed in room #10--front of the building w/amazing views.

My husband and I spent 3 days at Eiger Guesthouse to kickoff our honeymoon. Everything about our stay was pleasant. The rooms were comfortable, shared bath was immaculately clean and staff was extraordinarily helpful. The weather was much colder than expected for May and we found that we had packed light when faced with 3 days of snow. The owner and restaurant staff helped us to plan hiking trips down to Stechelberg and Lauterbrunnen and a visit to Trimmelbach falls. We enjoyed walks through Murren and frequently visited the local grocery and even the athletic center for a soak after a long day's hike. It is hard to beat the view! Ask for an upper floor room which will provide an amazing view.

I would highly recommend this hotel and can't say enough about the helpful staff.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room to get the best view!

We were early in the season and most places were closed, the Interlocken TI found this place and it was wonderful. The workers were wonderful always friendly helpful and willing to help us in anyway they could. The breakfast was great. The location @ 5300 ft was beautiful. We looked out our window into the Alp, fantastic view. Tey prepared a lunch for us the day we left early to go up the mpontain. Fun people, fun other guests, and a great place. We extended out stay an extra day, since it was such a special location.

Room Tip: We stayed in a budget room and also spent a couple nights in a standard room. Both met our expectat...

My wife and I didn't want to leave our stay at the Eiger Guesthouse. First off, the staff is super awesome (especially Leda). Everyone was friendly and helpful as soon as we walked through the door. We were given many hiking suggestions and all were spectacular.

The room was very clean and very modern. We had a room with a balcony, so I highly recommend trying for a room with one so you can get a great view of the mountains.

The restaurant in the hotel was phenomenal. We didn't eat anywhere else our entire stay, as their menu has plenty of options (try the Rösti). All the food we had was delicious.

I can't not rate the Eiger Guesthouse highly enough. This was truly one of the best experiences I've had while traveling.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony view
