I've visited this mountain restaurant numerous times in the past 15 years and in the past couple of years it's become very frustrating. It used to be a self service restaurant and it always had a nice buzz about it and friendly people running it. A couple of years ago it was remodeled and since then it's lost all it's charm. It's now all tables with waitress service. The downside to this is that you wait for ever for anyone to serve you. The staff always stand in the back by the counter and are always talking and take for ever to ever come and serve you in between playing with their mobile phones. It's such a shame as the location is unbeatable and the coffee good but sadly nowhere near as good as it used to be.

I was excited to try my first taste of raclette here and it didn't disappoint! Absolutely delicious and an enormous portion. The other half was delighted with his rosti with egg & bacon and it was enough to serve about 3 people...

Wonderful staff, such a friendly service and to top it all off in the middle of December we were able to sit outside in the sun and eat overlooking the Jungfrau!

It was a nice little ride up on the funicular aswell. We hadn't planned to eat here but were so glad that we did! It was expensive, as most places are around here, but definitely worth every penny.

This restaurant can easily be reached from the funicular up from Murren, or by taking the scenic path up from the town. The views from the restaurant are fantastic.

There had been a lot of snow overnight, so there were no outdoor tables available, but it was very nice inside. Pumpkin soup was again on the menu, and it came with lots of crusty bread. The soup was very thick and extremely tasty, and reasonably priced considering the quantity and quality.

There is a huge St Bernard dog in residence, but, luckily, it seemed very friendly, as we had to step over it to get out!

The view at this restaurant is to die for. We had so much fun time playing on the snow patch in front of the restaurant. After which, we conveniently plonk ourselves at the tables outside the restaurants to enjoy a rosti, fries and hot chocolate. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are big. I would definitely recommend that everyone visit this restaurant when they are in the area.

This restaurant can easily be reached from the funicular up from Murren. In summer you can hike to it, either coming down from the Schilthorn or Birg, or up from Murren or Winteregg.

In winter you can easily ski to it by skiing down piste no. 4 from the top of the Winteregg chair lift at Maulerhubel and up the Allmiboden chair lift. There's usually a roaring fire going and you can quickly warm up if it's cold outside.

The food is great and the portions huge. I usually share a Schnitzel and Chips with my wife or son. One person would have difficulty finishing a whole portion off. You certainly wouldn't be able to ski properly in the afternoon if you did! It comes with a free salad starter which can also be divided. Their schnitzel is the best, coated with breadcrumbs and crushed cornflakes. I have yet to find one that is better and I've tasted a few. (He means a lot - his wife:) )
