Have to take several gondolas to get to the top, but once there it is a surreal experience. Spectacular 360 view from the top of the Alps. Don't have to ski to visit.

“Incredible Views, but skip breakfast”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

Wow, the views from the top of Schilthorn are just incredible. If at all possible, go on a clear day -- too many clouds will make it difficult to see much from up there. And skip breakfast -- at $30 a plate it wasn't worth it for us (although the slowly rotating restaurant is a pretty cool effect).

“Great views and a perfect day (James Bond)”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Make sure to have a beer, in the revolving restaurant before leaving. One rule of thumb, when you wake up in the morning, if you don't see any clouds in the sky, get moving early. They tend to roll in pretty quickly.

“Not cheap but:-”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Plan your day well. Check all moneysaving offers. Also check webcams in hotels or Swiss TV, and weather forecasts. Our Swiss Card gives us halfprice travel.
Our favourite way is from Lauterbrunnen to Grutschalp by cable car, then to Murren by small train and walk through the village, then Murren to Piz Gloria by cable car. At the top there are lifts to all levels, as well as a gift shop, toilets and revolving restaurant. Wheelchair users can go all the way by cable car without a problem, but check for toilets at cablecar stations which are not down some stairs. Birg is good
We then return to the valley floor by cable car, stopping several times on the way, and catch the bus back to Lauterbrunnen. You can of course plan to walk some of the sections. Visitors to Switzerland pay a tourism tax on their accommodation and this is well used to maintain paths signs etc. The footpath signs mostly give journey times between points, although some also give the distance.
Shops and buses stop for lunch, and we would recommend checking the timetables if you need to rush.
The well stocked Coop in Murren has sandwiches etc or Hotel Edelweiss for a meal, or coffee and cake, as the view from their terrace restaurant is stunning. If the cablecar is really full why not stop off at Birg cablecar station and let the crowds carry on down the next section. You can then enjoy the terrace at Birg with more spectacular views, and be first in the queue for the next cablecar. From Murren there are several different trails i.e Flower Trail, Childrens Adventure Trail, which vary in time and distance. You can also divert from Murren to Allmendhubel - but thats another review

“Top of the World!”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

We decided on this trip because it was much cheaper than the Jungfrau rail journey and our hotelier recommended it as being quieter with better views.
The parking is plentiful and we took the first cable car up in the morning. Because you climb in a cable car you get excellent views of the alps, there is a stop half way up and you can get off and have a look around, excellent opportunity for photographs of the iconic structure from the movie.
Fortunately it was a clear day and you could actually see as far as Mount Blanc in France and the Black Forest in Germany! Of course the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau are so near you feel you can reach out and touch them.
We treated ourselves to a hot chocolate and an apple strudel in the revolving restaurant, I thought the prices were quite reasonable and well worth it for the views.
There are paths from the top that can be hiked down for the more adventurous! We watched an American doctor disappear over the edge with his backpack, headed for the bottom but thought better of following him. My husband ventured down off the structure and walked out along the top of the mountain ridge, he said it was not for those with vertigo or a fear of heights.
We are not huge James Bond fans so I am afraid I could not comment on the exhibit.
All in all it was a good few hours well spent and worth the money it cost, though try to keep an eye on the weather and choose your moment to visit as the views are well worth it.
