My husband and I had a crazy experience GETTING to this hotel (our own doing), but once there we had a great time at this romance inducing hotel with beautiful views!

First the crazy experience - we did not read our booking instructions carefully and missed the fact that the town of Murren in which Hotel Alpina is located is a CAR-FREE town! It is accessible only by a combination of a cable car and a train from Lauterbrunnen (among others) for a fare of CHF 10 (one way). If you have luggage, be prepared to haul it up in the cable car and train. It must be added that the journey to Murren is full of amazing sights! One can feel the snow capped mountains come nearer and weather get colder.

Luckily, Hotel Alpina is about 150-200 metres from the train station and thus easily accessible. It can be easily spotted as it appears to practically hang off a cliff! We spent two nights here - one in the "mountain view" room and another in the "city view" room and I can say that both the views are equally good! The family running the hotel is extremely helpful with maps and markings. A number of hiking tours are possible from Murren but the one to Allmendhubel is highly recommended! To visit Jungfraujouch, one will have to go back to Lauterbrunnen to catch another line.

The restaurant attached to Hotel Alpina serves amazing food with an amazing view! We had one of the best meals of our trip here including the Swiss specialty Rosti. The breakfast was decent - watch out for the colorful eggs!

Overall, we would recommend Hotel Alpina for a wonderful stay in the Jungfrau region, especially if you want to be nearer to the mountains!

Room Tip: Corner room on the firsl floor (Room number 19, I think) has a huge L-shaped terrace overlooking the city! It can host a party for upto 10 people :)

Lovely place with an even better view! We had a room on 1st floor with a balcony large enough for at least 4 people comfortably. One afternoon we even had a cow fly by. Somehow it got lost and a helicopter had to bring it home! Incredible! You even had a view in the bathroom while taking a shower!

This hotel was SO CUTE! The beds were super comfortable, the shower was amazing with great water pressure, and the restaurant was TO DIE FOR. We ate there for almost every meal because it was too good to pass up. The woman who works at the front desk is SO PLEASANT and is always willing to help. My only complaint would be that the lighting in our room (we were in room 18) left a little to be desired...it had one overhead light that created shadows everywhere, and one small fluorescent reading light above each bed (however, I am super picky about lighting so if this is something that doesn't bother you, I would definitely suggest this room). My parents stayed on the fourth floor and had an INCREDIBLE view of the mountains and the valley, plus their room had cute lighting, so it really just depends on what room you stay in. Overall I LOVED this hotel!

Room Tip: Request a room with a view of the mountains...I think it's only 20 euros more per night, but it is WELL worth it. The view is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

We stayed at the Hotel Alpina in June, 2013. This family owned hotel has a very warm and friendly staff with a nice dining room. Their included breakfast is excellent. Everything is very clean. You will not be disappointed with your stay at this hotel. Roger knows the trail system and can advise you about some good hikes.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the backside of the hotel with a view of Eiger and Jungfrau.

I highly recommend this hotel. It is listed as a 2-star but I would give it 3. Our family spent one night in a family suite (basically 2 rooms and a bathroom in between) at this hotel in early July. The hotel is very clean; rooms are neat and we had a very good dinner here. Breakfast bar was included and was delicious. Staff was nice and friendly. Hotel was very quiet. One of our rooms overlooked the street and the other overlooked the valley and beautiful mountains. The latter had a nice balcony and the view in the morning was simply amazing. Murren is an idyllic car free village. Many many photo ops! You have to take a cable car or train to get there and the kids really enjoyed that part. From Murren, we took the cable cars up to the Schilthorn which is at 10,000 feet. Nice panoramic viewing station up there.

Room Tip: Get a room with the valley view; it is well worth it.
