Hotel Eiger exceeded our expectations. We didn't realize such luxury could be found in a remote village in the alps! The spa/sauna was unique and very relaxing after a hard day of skiing. The breakfast buffet was fresh & wonderful with everything from eggs & cereal to champagne. The views from the dining area (& our room) were magnificent. The bar/lounge had a very nice bar tender who we enjoyed visiting with to learn more about the area. The owners truly seemed happy to be there and are very accommodating. Our room smelled like pine so we wondered if it had been newly remodeled. Our bathroom was very clean. Maybe it was brand new too. Room was quiet (we never heard our neighbors). We had plenty of space for all of our ski clothes and their ski room downstairs was a very convenient place to leave our skis and boots so we didn't have to lug them up to our room every day. The Wi-fi in our room was spotty, but we had good connectivity from the sitting room by the lobby. We only ate one dinner. The service was wonderful, but the food was not that great. It was probably our American tastebuds or our menu choices. Not sure.
Other info: We dropped our skis off at the train station upon arriving at the Zurich airport. They shipped our skis (we had both pair of skis in one bag) to the train station in Murren for only 12CHF. It saved us the hassle of handling them on all of the train transfers which was fantastic especially when we had jet lag! (they say to allow 2 days for your skis to arrive at their destination). The skiing exceeded our expectations. We consider ourselves expert skiers. We were lucky to arrive after a big snowstorm so had plenty of fresh powder with fresh tracks all day! (plenty of groomers for those who don't like powder). Non skiers would also enjoy Murren because you can take the tram to the top just to enjoy the amazing view or rent a little sled and play around on the hill (don't worry..they didn't appear to go very fast. (We saw a woman sharing a sled with her 3 or 4 year old). We loved it so much that we extended our stay an extra night....so worth it. You can't go wrong!

This is amazing hotel with breath taking views over the valley and mountains. All the staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful and the suite we had was spacious and well suited to a family. The restaurant serves very nice food and our waiter was great at suggesting a nice local wine. The tolberone bars and bottles of water which our kids we were given on leaving was a nice touch and my daughter will always remember the fun golf buggy ride on the sheep skin rugs through the town to the hotel from the cable car station.

From the moment you arrive you're more than welcome with very well spoken English if you're German or French isn't all it could be! The staff can't do enough for you and if you're there to relax or been more adventurous they are so knowledgeable and have advise from their own personal experiences or the surrounding scenery.
The food in the restaurant is nice enough although a little limited from the standard ‘inclusive’ menu. If you don’t mind paying a little more the ala carte menu is well worth trying out. The selection of wines is plenty for most palettes, it’s worth trying the Swiss wine for a more local flavour with some more traditional cuisines on offer like the cheese fondue.
The bar staff are great at helping you enjoy yourself before or after the evening meal. They come up with some interesting cocktails and their head barman/wine waiter is extensively trained in the many variants of an alcoholic world for all to take part in if you choose. Just as happy with a beer again the local brew is great.
We stayed in the same room on both visits (we loved the view) and being able to sit out on the balcony was fantastic. The room itself may be a little on the basic side but you have everything you need and it’s clean! WiHi is a bonus if you absolutely can’t stay away from the home or the office for a week or two!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony for a stunning evening drink watching the view.

We've just returned from our second stay at the hotel Eiger in murren.
We arrived shortly after a huge snow storm. The storm had bought down some trees over the train line and we had to arrive at the other end of town. The porter collected the bags and skis and we walked the short distance to the hotel.
We had a fabulous week, this hotel has the most amazing staff, both in the bar and restaurant.
Susanna and Adrian run this hotel just the way a great hotel should be run!
The staff are all happy and that makes for a happy holiday maker.
The pool and sauna facilities are superb, cleanliness is second to none and the meals were all delicious.
Would we return?? Oh yesssssssss!!!!!!!

Room Tip: The views of the Eiger are breathtaking. Ask for a room on the front of the hotel.

The Hotel Eiger set the perfect backdrop for a magical trip to Murren. You will not find a staff more accommodating, or a hotel experience more welcoming than the one at the Eiger. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like family--from the staff remembering what we ate to warm welcoming each morning for breakfast to fulfilling each request we had from ski passes to faxes back to the States. The food was fabulous, the rooms more than accommodating, and the views breathtaking. If you are traveling to Murren there really is only one place to staff if you are accustomed to four/five star quality and that is the Hotel Eiger. We plan on returning often!

Room Tip: All European rooms are smaller by US standards but the rooms at the Eiger had the warmth and feel of...

I had a feeling our stay at the Hotel Eiger was going to be good from the first time I called over there in advance of our going to get a sense of the directions and surroundings. Right from the get-go the staff was extremely helpful, friendly and patient with my detailed questions (and spoke very good English which was a blessing for us).

We were proved correct upon getting there. Emma and her staff were outstanding. The hotel was very well situated, well maintained and the rooms were good (not huge or luxurious) but perfect and very good value for the money. I have very high standards for cleanliness and I was certainly impressed. The rooms were very well kept and the sheets were clean smelled clean.

On the way outvote next day, Emma was even thoughtful enough to ask about our activities and gave us a coupon that saved us 25 CHF each on the expensive cable ride up to Schilthorn. Great stay - will definitely repeat.
