This hotel was at the cheaper end of hotels in Murren which is why we chose it. It was fine. We ended up with a huge suite for some reason but it was not particularly nice or not nice. We had a balcony, which was a nice feature.
The hotel smelled like fried cooking.

My husband and I were delighted with the location, service and warmth at the Hotel Allpenblick. Very friendly in a low-key way, helpful, and good cooks! I would be very happy to stay there again.
PS They have free wireless.

My wife and 11-year old boy stayed three nights at the Hotel Alpenblick at the end of July 2010. Referred there by the Muerren TI, we were pleasantly greeted by Heidi who showed us two rooms. We picked the room on the side with a partial mountain view (see pictures) for 185CHF per night which is typical for a triple room in the Berner Oberland. The rooms were modern and in the wood-panelled Swiss style. The beds were comfy and warm. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The included breakfast featured breads, cereals, pastries, cold cut meats. The in-house restaurant has decent prices, scrumptious food, and great service. I highly recommend the fantastically tasty "Chicken in a Basket" -- a half chicken deep-fried. We ate dinner there two nights and were very satisfied. The hotel is owned and operated by the friendly Heidi and Franz Fitz (hostess and chef, resp.).

Even though the weather was cold and story outside during our stay, we were warm, comfortable & happy thanks to the Alpenblick and its wonderful owners.
We had the best sleep in months in its comfortable beds, and we were impressed with the efficiency, cleanliness and relaxation the room offered. Our bathroom had a tub and was very spacious. When we checked in, Heidi even gave us a tour of a couple of rooms we could choose from.
We did not expect to, but we ate at the Alpenblick's cute little restaurant all 3 days we were there for breakfast & dinner. Breakfast was simple and delicious because, especially because we loved the bread, meat & cheese, and the yogurt. We were hooked on the Goulash soup, and still crave the veal dish & fried chicken.
Prices are higher that we expected, but that's just the way it is all across the Swtizerland. But the memories are priceless. What a wonderful hotel in a great city, and beautiful, clean country.
(P.S. We enjoyed a wonderful 1-day excursion to Luzerne- 2 hours each way via train- the train trip alone was worth it- BEAUTIFUL).

Hotel Alpenblick was a charming little hotel in the tiny town of Murren. Our room was large, spacious and very clean. The beds were quite comfortable and the view from our balcony was astounding. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful, making us feel at home. Each morning there was a large, delicious continental breakfast where everything was so food it was easy to eat enough for breakfast and lunch! Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Murren.

Absolutely stunning location!

I had always wanted to visit the Alps in the summer and this location truly lived up to my expectations. The village of Mürren is located high in the Alps and can only be reached by cable car and funicular railway. Don’t let that put you off; it is part of the fun.

The hotel is located only 50 metres from the station and is very easy to find. A small family run hotel and Heidi and Franz warmly welcomed us. Franz does a lovely fondue!

The location is absolutely stunning and if you do decide to stay at the Alpenblick, then you must insist on a room with a balcony. Directly facing the hotel are the stunning peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Truly awesome!

The only downside is that the rooms are a little on the small side, but do you really want to stay in your room when in Mürren? Other than that the hotel is very clean and tidy, plus a lovely little restaurant.

Getting to the hotel is also part of the excitement. The cable car station is located in Lauterbrunnen, which also houses a very convenient multi-story car park. After rising over 500 metres in the cable car, the funicular railway will be waiting to meet you for a 10-minute ride in to the town.

A fantastic summer retreat and I would definitely visit again.

I stayed here in the Alpenblick's single room in January 2005. The room was small, but pleasantly furnished, warm and clean. It was more than adequate, and given that my holiday was not to spend several hours a day sat in a hotel room, its size was not an issue for me at all.

Heidi and Franz were unassumingly welcoming, and could accomodate my desire for certain omissions from meals.

The hotel is small and family-run and you can tell that it is cared for. The proximity to the train was great from my point of view, and being at the end of the village it was quietly situated.

The view from the balcony was so stunning it is imprinted on my memory - the mountains across the valley looked so close you wanted to reach out and touch them. I would sit on the balcony in my ski clothes just so I could enjoy the view and watch the setting sun. Even watching the lights of the piste-bashers after dark at 5pm across on the Wengen side of the valley was fascinating.

Not quite sure what some reviewers expect of a small, two-star family
-run hotel in Switzerland, but compared to what two-star can mean in some European countries, this hotel more than meets expectations. Its not the US, and as such the options for building hotels with huge rooms rarely exist without ruining what people go there to enjoy - the unspoilt nature of a place like Murren. Internet access - can't we manage without for a few days - or try the internet cafe at the neighbouring hotel. PS If you need a fridge in the winter season - try putting your items in a bag on the balcony - does the job.

Am returning again soon and know I won't be disappointed!
