This small hotel is a gem of comfort and hospitality. We rented two rooms for our family and it was still the most reasonable price of our whole two week European extravaganza. And, Murren is the one place we are definitely hoping to revisit from our trip. Even though every place we went was fun and interesting and beautiful, the Swiss alps on a glorious blue sky day are impossible to beat. Denise, the host, is very thoughtful and helpful and made us feel right at home. The village of Murren is tiny, easily walkable, has enough restaurants and a little grocery store - we loved walking around it and seeing the little gardens, the ENORMOUS rabbits (never seen a bigger rabbit), and the sheep grazing on steep hillsides. We ate fondue and rosti (basically an extra yummy hashbrown) at the place across from the hotel - warm, hardy, and filling after hiking all day.
Oh, almost forgot to mention the impromptu alpenhorn concert that took place in the middle of the street one evening. We heard lovely music begin to drift in the window about 10 o'clock one evening and looked out to see Alpenhorns (think the instruments in the ricola commercial) in the middle of main street playing what sounded like Swiss lullabies. Magical.
