This gorge is beautiful! The trail is carved into the side of the mountain and you walk through it as far as you can go and just enjoy the rushing water and lush plants and cool photo spots. Be warned: it's cold! Bring a jacket that is waterproof too because some of the water can drip on you. (If you didn't bring one like me, you suck it up and enjoy it regardless!)

It's an interesting experience to walk along the gorge, although you can get really wet at some parts. It's recommended to wear a jacket that has a waterproof hoodie to go there. It's an easy walk along the wooden walkway and you could see waterfalls, rapids, narrow and wide gaps between the 2 cliffs. Only thing is that we parked our car at the west entrance so we gotta walk back the same route to go back to the west entrance. And the restaurant at Aare Gorge serve yummy food!

We made the walking trip through the Aare Gorge on a recent visit to Switzerland; it's a gorgeous setting and even for someone like me who has a bit of a fear of heights and board walks and rushing water, it was well worth putting my fears aside. The walk is on a well constructed and sturdy wooden walkway with hand rails, beautiful overhangs and the shear power of the green-glacial water rushing through make for a wonderful experience. Many spectacular photo opportunities. It's also an easy walk w/o a lot of climbing or challenging aspects. Would definitely do this again and would recommend the experience for anyone visiting Meiringen.

Great way to see the size and effects of the Alps in a river scenario, catwalk along edge of gorge with some tunnels. If you take photos, disable the flash for better pictures and use a tripod or steady hand!

Inexpensive entrance fee, about 7 sf, they do not take Swiss Rail pass
