Our visit to the area was not for skiing, although it looked spectacular. I had come to stay in Lauterbrunnen before and took my kids sledging (sledding) up in Murren and wanted to do it again on a trip here with friends. Murren didn't have enough snow, so we headed up to Kleine Scheidegg. The sporting shop at the train stop rents the sleds...it's like $20 for all day and you get $5 back if you return it to the same shop rather than the shop down the mountain. The gentlemen who work in the shop were helpful and funny (helping too middle-aged women who wanted to go sledding!) and they directed us on the basics of turning and stopping, etc. and sent us on our way. I swear to you, it was the most fun in the midst of the most majestic place I can imagine. There way no one around but us laughing wildly as we screamed down the hills. The run from Kleine Scheidegg to Brandegg took about 1.5 hours and we were able to do it twice with an easy train hop back up to the top. There is a cafe at Brandegg so you can get a bite to eat or a nice cold one before riding again!
