“A must see before you die!”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

We have been in Switzerland for several years, and had not yet made the trip to the Aletsch Glacier. What a sight!
We took the cable car from Bettmeralp to the Bettmerhorn restaurant and the view is breathtaking. There is a lovely path down along the side of the valley, and we saw hardly anyone else. A full trip would be several hours, but we returned to the viewpoint and climbed to the top of the Bettmerhorn. That is another experience. Do NOT try this if you are not fit and make sure you wear strong boots. The "track" is steep, jagged, with minimal handholds and a fall could be very unpleasant. The view from the top of the mountain is not that much more impressive than the view from the platform at the restaurant. You are warned (see the photo)!
The following day we walked from Bettmeralp to the mountain ridge at Biel, and had another view over the glacier. That was a very rewarding and beautiful walk.
Really - you have to see this glacier (before it melts)!!!!

“Worth 160 Swiss francs? I don't think so.”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

The train ride from Wengen or Lauterbrunnen to the 'Top of Europe' (the summit of Jungfrau) starts out with beautiful scenery. After the change in Kleine Scheidegg, there's a bit more amazing scenery, but then the ride in the tunnel starts -- and it's long. You arrive at the 'Top of Europe', and if the weather is clear, you'll have an undeniably fascinating view. (If not, though, you are surrounded by fog with 0 visibility.) As for the 'Top of Europe' facility, it's a grand tourist trap with a few mediocre restaurants. As amazing as the scenery might be, the long train ride in the no-view tunnel just doesn't justify 160 Swiss francs per person. I think it's a rip-off. Switzerland has so much else to offer for much less.

Jungfrau - top of europe is a holy grail for all who visit this beautiful country. We took the train from grindelwald upto Kleine Scheidegg and to the mountain summit. The route is simply too much to define here.
Seeing is to be believing. The route from Kleine to Jungfrau is mostly inside the tunnels with a history of jungfrau railways playing on a TV. The train stops in between inside the tunnels, where they have made observation points to take pictures. Do try the restaurant there as they offer really good food at a price!

“Breathtaking day.”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Had a great day. To walk out of the Jungfraujoch station across the snow away from the crowds was so liberating. Dress warm 2 deg C when 28 in the valley when I visited. Strong boots and poles if you have them.

“You simply must visit!”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

We found that you can purchase a one day hiking pass which is cheaper than getting a return cable car ride to the top of the Eggishorn. For 80 Swizz Francs we all travelled (2 adults and 2 children) on as many cable cars as we wanted for the day in the Aletsch Arena area. We started with a trip up to Eggishorn and then came down one cable car and walked along to get another cable car to another viewing point. We then walked further along the ridge to take 2 more cable cars down - the pass then enabled us to take a train ride back to where we started - quite a decent length ride too! For 80 Swizz Francs we had 6 cable car rides and a train journey on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn for all four of us! Incredible value! If you want to do several days in the area you can buy a pass for more than one day that also looks to be of good value - but we only visited this area for one day! The glacier is amazing and is a must see for those visiting the area!
