What a marvel. But don't rely on getting to the area and being able to find your own way, We thought we could get there and pick up a brochure for the many routes along the glacier. There is no way of getting a local and detailed map. We did have a great journey from from Eggishorn toBettermalp, but it could have been better. We missed the forest and the lake. I think the best way is to start at Bettermalp and walk along to Eggishorn. You can get the train to Betten, take the cable car up, then walk along and get the cable car back to Fiesch. Take plenty of liquid as there are not many watering holes on the route. It was also very windy in places. we will have to go back!

A fantastic place to see specially in summer! This is a must see in Switzerland. You can experience a real Alps by going up to this mountain. You don't need to be a climber as you can go up by train. In sunny days, you can enjoy a spectacular landscape. The train is a bit expensive. It takes about 2 hours to reach to this place from Interlaken and you can spend 2-3 hours up there. You should change 3 trains from Interlaken to Jungfrau. We where there end of July and the weather was snowy.

The best part of ascending to the Jungfraujoch - by the very expensive Jungfraubahn - is to look down along the length of the Aletsch Glacier. Spectacular scene on a clear day. We did not set foot on it and had to content ourselves with photographs. Last time we visited we did venture out - but we were a lot younger then!

This place is amazing. We were expecting to be here at most an hour and leave after the long, but very interesting train ride up. We ended up staying most of the day, so plan at least 4-5 hours to enjoy the entire trip. If you plan to hike, they do rent equipment, including shoes, to hike the glacier in a group, but plan on taking ski clothing for the hike. The views are amazing, the ice palace very nice and has hand rails to hang onto, but it wasn't very slippery. You can possibly get a bit light headed with the oxygen change, but just stop and wait for your body to adjust and you'll be fine. Those with breathing challenges be aware. They have a zip line which was an extra 25 Euro charge, and you can do tubing, skiing, sledding up there too. They have a couple restaurants with OK food, a great gift shop, and the staff were all very nice, even with all the tourist begging for their help. HIGHLY recommend a full day trip to see this place. We visited the Schilthorn the day before, which if we hadn't, it would have been a let down after this place, although the Schilthorn is a different view since its on the other side of the Monk/Eiger mountains. The fee is fairly steep, but in the end, I felt it was worth it, at least 1 time.

From the top you can walk out on it, tube on it, as well as zip line over it. We went for a 15min walk on and it and took some pictures. Is recommended as you are already there when you visit Jungfraujoch.
