“Great view of Interlaken”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

We had already been up Harder Kulm, which is really spectacular. This 100 year old funicular railway only travels about a quarter of the distance up the opposite side of the valley but it does give a great view from that side. If you have kids they will love the rides up at the top and the cafe was OK for a drink and ice cream. Just get a single ticket up, it is an easy 10 minute stroll back down via the wooded hillside

“Don't waste your time or money!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I decided to try the funicular on the way up and the toboggan on the way down. Not only are there no views on the ride up as it covered by trees the whole thing takes like two and a half minutes!
Once up the top there is an expensive cafe and some very used and outdated park equipment for children to play on.
I don't understand how this toboggan passed and oh&s laws. The carriages are plastic and extremely weathered, there are no instructions given except brake/no brake by a rude man up the top, no sign explaining which way it will go etc etc. not to mention the steps once you get off are all knee height (on a woman) and there is no railing to hold on to.
This cost us $28CHF and was completely crap!

“Walk up”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

The children enjoyed playing at the Heimwehfluh, especially the model railway. The parents enjoyed it more when they realised that the expensive funicular ride can be avoided by 15 minutes of easy walking.

“Great view”

This funicular is really quaint and takes you up to a really nice area from where you get a breathtaking view of Interlaken. Also there's a little restaurant and lots of activities for kids.

“Very expensive, a complete waste of time!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

We visited on a wet afternoon and to say we were disappointed is an understatement.
There were 2 adults and 2 children and to ride up on the train and back (about a 2 minute journey) and watch a series of model trains on a large train track (their idea of a show!) cost us 59 chf (59 Swiss Francs or approximately £42). When you consider 1 of our children was 4 years old and therefore free, this is terrible value.
We couldn't ride the pipe/track system as it was wet! But to be honest that was even more money and by the time we got to the top we felt we had been robbed enough already.
There are loads of great things to do locally that are really good value, avoid this like the plague.
