“You can definitely find a better option!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2011

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during the busy season of June. For a family of 5, we had booked 2 rooms, a double and a triple room. The experience at this hotel started with the worst possible welcome (or should I say send-off) by a man who told us to "cool-down and wait" when we rang the cloak bell to call someone to the unmanned reception desk. This man turned out to be the director of the hotel! What a way to welcome your guests. They handed over the rooms 15 minutes before the scheduled check-in and made it a point to tell us that this was a huge favor! Once we entered the room, we encountered antique wooden flooring which would generate loud squeaks even if you would try to put your lightest foot forward! As the evening approached, the squeaking sound from the room above became louder and louder. This was concerning as it would wake our baby up at short intervals. The bathroom of the triple room was the smallest I have ever seen and was very dingy. The restaurants are avoidable and you can get much better choices as you walk further towards the centre of Interlaken. The only advantage this hotel has is its proximity to the main station. Saying that, Interlaken is so small that you would not be spending more than 15 minutes to reach a hotel at the extreme corner. I would recommend staying in the central part of the area that is lively and gives you a true vacation feeling.

We came upon this place on our way walking from Interlaken OST railroad towards the center of town. They gave a good price and we took it. One up the street wanted 2x what they wanted. The hotel is just outside the main part of town, but half way to the OST rail station.

The room was nice, our did face the street, which was loud in the morning for traffice, but for the rest of the day it was quite. The view out the doors was very nice and gave us fresh air as there is no AC in the whole Country!!!

The front desk was very helpful with our sight seeing plans and even gave us some good tips.

We stayed at the hotel during ist week of may 2011 for four nights - very nice location - pleasant staff - full freedom /least disturbance to our group - good food even though it was same all days - very big rooms - no tea / coffee making facilities though they kept a kettle - big bathrooms - very neat and clean - finally good value for money

Room Tip: i do recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay

I selected this hotel based on past reviews and was not let down. My romm was on the 2nd floor and it was very clean and tidy. So were the bathroom. The staff (a young girl) at the reception was very helpful in providing me the information that I required. I was very impressed with their service and were willing to go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.

Just a hitch, I was told that when we leave the hotel for a the day, the key being too heavy to carry should be dropped in a box which has your room number on it. Now this box has all room keys that can be kept in it. I did exactly what they said and when I came back to the hotel, my key was not to be found. The girl at the reception then opened my door with a duplicate key and I had to sleep with the door unlocked the whole night-it was safe no doubt. Next morning when checking out, I asked where the key was and a man at the reception said the key was found under my cupboard in the room which was very hard to believe cause it meant that when I left the room I had not locked my door. I found this very strange and was amazed. Then later I asked the girl at the reception again and she said the key had fallen behind the box at the reception and she too did not know how. Nevertherless all's well that ends well and besides for this hiccup, the service was excellent.

We got a great price for our room with breakfast included. Located right near train station minus the noise, small walk to center of town. Staff were extremely friendly and help. Nice spacious rooms and very comfortable. Thanks!

Room Tip: Negotiate room price with staff in off peak

We had a three night stay here and found that the beds were so hard that we were unable to sleep. We asked for a change of room only to be told that all beds were exactly the same. The pillows look large and fluffy but go "poof" down when you rest your head on them. This was marginally better if two pillows were placed in one pillowcase.
Reception staff were good - though a little hard to find on occasions
Breakfast was very good with attentive waiting staff and a wide range of foods
This hotel is on a great location for train travel from Interlaken Ost. It is also close to a Coop supermarket at the same train station.
Rooms were very clean. A kettle is provided but no fridge. Floors are all timber - carpet would be better/quieter.

It was pretty short walk from the train station to the hotel though it was a pretty far walk, about 20 minutes, to the main city centre of Interlaken. Thankfully we did not walk to town much during our stay at Interlaken.
We tried to check into the hotel at around 12pm, only to be informed that the room was not yet ready and that we had to wait till around 2.30pm. Fortunately we were able to leave our baggage with the receptionist and explore the city while waiting for our room to be prepared.
When we were finally able to enter our room, we found the corridor leading up to our room pretty dark and the sensor took quite a while for the lights to switch on. However, we were happy to find that the room itself and bathroom was pretty spacious. There were also a couple of english channels for us to watch on the television.
The major gripe we had about the place was the lack of sleep we had on our first night. When I was about to sleep, I heard this loud droning noise near my bed and tried to find the source of this disturbance but to no avail. It carried on for quite a while, rendering me unable to sleep. Thankfully the noise slowly faded in the end and did not occur again on the second night of my stay.
