“GOOD BUDGET ACCOMMODATION”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

We knew this was a budget hotel when we booked, but were really pleased. My friend and I paid a supplement to have a room each. The rooms were of a good size, clean, well equipped and even had a balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the meals at breakfast and dinner were good. You can easily walk to the town and a after dinner walk to the canal was very pleasant. Just one small thing the common areas could do with a little makeover, but it did not spoil our enjoyment of the hotel

The hotel was very well placed, being 10 minutes walk from Interlaken West and 15 minutes walk from Interlaken Ost railway stations. We also had free bus travel as we stayed in Interlaken and this was excellent. Public transport in Switzerland is fantastic, its frequent and always turns up on time.

Great trips can easily be done from this hotel, Jungfrau, Syhnige Platte, Giessbach Waterfalls, The lakes, Cycling. So much to do and a week was not long enough.

The Swiss pass is a must if you plan to use transport and go up the mountains, it gave us a 50% discount on the Jungfrau and many other savings including bike hike.

TOP TIP: Try the sleighing on the Jungfrau.15 Swiss francs for as many goes as you like. The best purchase of the holiday. Prepare to get covered in snow.

Tucked just a few yards from the centre of town, the unassuming Harder Minerva turned out to be a very charming place with exceptionally friendly staff. We stayed half board and when the set menu didn't tick our boxes, the chef was more than willing to cater for us.
The room, not overly large, was clean and modern. The bathroom (shower actually) was quite small, but was newly refurbished and up to standard.
Its not the Ritz, but if you're looking for an honest and friendly place to stay in Interlaken, it has our vote. It punches above its weight in terms of satisfaction for money spent.
Not planning to return to that area very soon as there's more to see in Switzerland, but when we do, it'll be very much on the agenda.
A big thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Most of the rooms are so small that after putting your luggage you hardly get any space to move. Light is another problem,,,,I had just 1 lamp stand in the room and there was no other light option.
Building is very old. 1 lift which it has is too small to carry even 2 guests with luggage. front desk and other staff are very friendly. A hotel just ok for transit journey.....wont recommend for more than one night stay

Room Tip: Ask for bigger room ...go and check before check in

I nice friendly little hotel in an excellent location close to both train stations and local shopping. It does not have lots of amenities but it was the perfect base for me to explore the region. Friendly helpful staff. Nicely prepared local food.

Room Tip: The lift does not go to the 4th floor.

From the train station (Interlaken West) it was only a 10-minute walk. The reception was very friendly and attentive. Lift was provided despite the very old age of the hotel (1890); so it was very convenient to carry our luggage and baby stroller. Our room has a verandah and the view from there was superb. But I noticed that not all rooms had verandah. Breakfast was good and the staff pre-arranged your seating. For an expensive tourist city, this hotel would be considered as affordable with good value.

Room Tip: Of course, a room with a view.

The hotel is very appropriately located between the Interlaken west and ost stations. It has very close proximity to the bus stop, casino kursaal, market area and the Hoheweg. The hotel provides very good service. However, it doesn’t have any Indian restaurant as is written majorly on internet sites. The front side rooms with balcony provide very good view of the mountains. All in all, we had a very pleasant time in the hotel during our 5 day stay in Interlaken.
