“A lovely place to stay in Interlaken”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

The walk from Interlaken East train stationto Hotel Interlaken is an easy walk, even with small luggage. The desk staff, particularly Ronny, were fantastic. Ronny, thank you for making our stay at your hotel very special. While many people may believe that kindness, charm and courtesy are out-dated values, I can assure you that the time you took to explain the sights/excursions and train scheduling was so, so much appreciated by us. Your professionalism combined with your sense of humour added greatly to our hotel experience.

Our hotel room was a corner room over-looking mountains and the Japanese garden- lovely! Our room was smallish but modern and cosy. Breakfast was a well-organized buffet with a good selection of food. Excellent chef and great dinner menu, which we enjoyed one night.

We would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Interlaken in the future!

We stayed at this hotel on a package deal from the UK. Room was good, food was excellent. Hard to beat the location right in the centre of town, a few minutes walk from the station. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

Our room was at the front with a nice balcony - excellent spot. Only downside was the weather was hot and with the French doors open, it was a bit noisy some nights.

If you are not bothered about the pool, gym, spa thing, a great place to stay.

With parts of its structure dating back to the 1300s, the Hotel Interlaken has good-sized, recently refurbished rooms, with very comfortable beds. Like many Swiss hotels, there is no air-conditioning, although each room is equipped with a fan. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

There is a good spread for breakfast, and for the two coeliacs in our group gluten-free food at breakfast and dinner was well catered for. Our only complaint was that the service at dinner was very slow, over three hours on two of the eleven nights we stayed here.

The hotel's position is excellent, being located a few minutes walk from Interlaken Ost railway station, and a similar distance from the shopping area.

Situated both near the train station and interlaken square creating an easy access in and out the hotel.

Clean room, spacious .... and our balcony facing the back of the hotel with nice view.

Strangely ..... i find the croissant is so much better than one serve in france and they provide RICE ..... yes our main staple with SAMBAL (red chili)

This hotel have its own history and instantly became my historical journey.

I also met Indonesian lady serving our breakfast .... ending up with a splendid indonesian dinner

Just the reception staff service and 'make my room' service needs improvement; all good otherwise. On my first day, lacking a gym, I was guided to a fitness center downtown, near the Congress Center, which was a bit of a walk. On reaching there I learnt that it does not even entertain guests! On my second day I was disappointed to find my bed not made - neither morning nor turn-down.

I gladly spent my 2 nights, just like I did nearly 20 years ago when I first visited Interlaken.

Room Tip: Face the church side.

Having stayed for 7 nights I can fully recommend this hotel for a half board stay. We had a room on the 4th floor with windows & balcony at the front and side. It was spacious, extremely comfortable and quiet. From reception staff, waitresses to room maids everyone was genuinely friendly. The breakfasts were plentiful with a good choice of food. The evening meals are special, even though the service is slow but I think that's the Swiss way. The variation and colourful presentation of the food was thrill and we had a lovely waitress who deserves a mention, she was called Lisel (Lisa). and couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. George, the hotel Manager, visited our table most nights and chatted and checked everything was to our satisfaction. He runs an exceptionally smooth operation and was a delight to talk to.

Room Tip: Room 411 was perfect for us,airy light & quiet.

Our 3rd location on our Honeymoon.
This beautiful hotel has been servicing guests for many many years. There was a lovely brochure all about the history of the hotel in the room.
The staff are also proud to work in the hotel steeped in local legend. There are small, well placed, reminders all over the hotel about its long and happy past.
The rooms are spacious enough, beautifully and tastefully decorated, and again incorporating hints of its proud history.
The beds are extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and well maintained.
The highlight of the room we were in was without doubt, the view!
We had a balcony overlooking the gardens of the hotel and the snow capped Mountains. Totally amazing.....
The breakfast was also a huge high point. Lots of choice and good quality foods. There was NO watering down of juices or prepacked 'anything' on the breakfast menu.
Finally, with regards to the location. We walked to the hotel within 5 mins from Interlaken Ost train station. We also strolled through the town, a mere hundred yards away, in search of dinner and found some wonderful restaurants.
A stay at this hotel will NOT leave you disappointed!
