Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa
Ranked #3 of 40 Hotels in Interlaken
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 19, 2007

This is an outstanding hotel. The lobby and public areas are beautiful. The gourmet restaurant is excellent. My wife loved the spa, workout facilities and various treatments. My children really enjoyed the kids' club. The bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely--but not spectacular. The nightly entertainment was also very nice.

For mountain resorts in Europe, this is one of my favorites. There are flat screen tvs, nice qualities beds, pillows and linens. The breakfast was exceptional--really good coffee. Our kids loved the popcorn and cokes brought into the room for them.

The location is very nice being a couple of minutes just out of the center of Interlaken. Interlaken is small so it is a two minute walk back into the center.

The only reason I gave this hotel 4 instead of 5 stars is to differentiate it from the truly great hotels around the world. The Victoria, while beautiful, is not the same experience as the Four Seasons in Provence or the Villa d'Este on Lake Como.

We would definitely come back and this hotel has to be one of the great hotels found in the Swiss Alps. We liked it as much as any we have found in the mountains of europe.

The Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa was one of the most beautiful hotels that we have ever been to. The rooms are very large with a king bed and pull out sofa if needed. Decor is elegant with silk covered walls and large sumptious marble baths. The rooms my family stayed in had enormous closets. One of our rooms had the most breathtaking view of Jungfrau. Upon arrival my 3 teenagers were welcomed with popcorn, cake, chocolates and cokes set up on an end table. More importantly, the staff here are wonderful. The spa staff and concierge go out of their way to assist you in any way possible. We are looking forward to visiting this hotel again.

Just back from our tour of Switzerland and this Hotel was a standout. From the concierge to cleaners everyone was helpful and courteous.

Our room while not having a balcony was still spacious, clean and well kept. Bathroom was very nice with a large dressing room are which the wife liked! Our view was of the harder which was a neck straining look up but did provide pleasant views of the numerous paragliders that navigate down to the area in front of the hotel. The hotel could have provided more bath soaps and lotions etc.

The spa and swimming pool was superb!! Lots of treatments and facilities with the usual ice tank to cool off in after the sauna and hammam. Still haven't plucked up the courage to use that yet.

We went to three restaurants the best being La Terrase which requires a jacket and tie although some scruffs were allowed in without!

Would definitely go back and probably will do next year!

The Victoria Jungfrau is THE place to stay in Interlaken. Yes it is quite expensive but 5 star hotels are. The staff we found to be polite, courteous and knowlegeable. We were upgraded to a junior suite because we booked well in advance with Kuoni who we also rate highly.
The Terrasse restaurant was superb - the food and service were of outstanding quality and the breakfast which was at the same place was very nice with a large variety of food and drink but not up to the amazing experience of breakfast at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, but that's another story!
Our room was always cleaned to the highest of standards but the only slight downside was the lack of air conditioning, this has led us to rate the hotel four out of five, otherwise it would have got the full five stars.
Thoroughly recommended.

No doubt would have been stunning 50 years ago, but now I found the hotel tired and certainly not worth the very high prices.

Location is a main negative, its too close to the main strip, complete with a Hooters next door. Noisy, and spoils the whole experience. Stayed in a Jungfrau Suite, again, the room was tired and not all that clean. Felt like it had been gathering dust for a long time. The park opposite is like a bazzarr on weekends. Awful.

French restaurant was only average for dinner although the breakfast is very nice. Staff were professional but not particularly friendly.

All in all, only a mediocre experience and definately not worth the price.

I stayed in Junior Suite with my friends Dinika, Saloni and my sis Parinita for 2 nights. Its one of best located hotels I have ever seen. We enjoyed its excellent indoor pool, sauna and steam. We spend a lot of time enjoying breakfast and the ambiance of the hotel.

We spent 4 nights from June 1 and it was a wonderful. experience The hotel is beautifully maintained, the staff is first class and the restaurants have some of the finest cuisine we have eaten. We had booked a Jungfrau facing double room but were upgraded to a junior suite which was a nice touch. The location of the hotel, right in the middle of the Promenade was an added bonus.
