“Very good place to stay in Interlaken”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

Traveling with my daughter and sister. We were greeted very warmly by the owner of the hotel. She showed us to our room which had a separate entrance from the hotel. The room was large and nicely decorated. The included breakfast was very good. Cereals, breads, cheeses and meats were included. A very nice thing for us was the free Wi-Fi. The hotel is located very close to the West train station on a quiet street. Walking distance from restaurants and shopping.

I choose this B&B because read review from the internet. The room is very clean, and new renovated-look.

I just want to complain Ms. Christine Roseway. I think she is the owner of this B&B. We have did miscommunicate with luggage overnight leaving. She think i will take the luggage in the same day, but i already e-mail to confirm that i will take it back tomorrow. I leave the luggage and i travel to stay at Murren one night. She called to me about 20:30 and shout to me that "Why you do not take the luggage back" , "She have to wait all night", and very surprise she hang the phone on me. I complain because this problem caused by the communication mistake, and no one absolutely right, no one absolutely wrong. She is not my boss, but she act as she is. I am her guest and pay money to her. I have never have experience that hotel shout to customer, or complain to customer. However, my wife want to finish this argument, then she say sorry to her. oh! customer has to say sorry to hotel first. I just have second experience with B&B stay, and i do disappoint. I hope another B&B should not treat the guest like this.

We spent 4 nights at this friendly hotel and enjoyed it very much. Although the room was small, it had everything you could need, including a bar fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. It was close to Interlaken West railway station and to the Migros Supermaket and cafeteria. We could buy groceries and eat in our room whenever we liked. Dining at restaurants in Interlaken is very expensive!! Breakfast was enjoyable and we had red painted/dyed hard boiled eggs which were a talking point...All local attractions were able to be easily reached by walking, train, boat or by car. ( be prepared for the fact that Switzerland is an expensive place to visit ). Lastly, but certainly not least, were the extremely helpful and friendly "crew" at the Alphorn. The owner, Christine, is an expert on the area and offered great advise on where to visit! The other staff ( Nelia, Sylvia and Monica ) were always happy to chat about our day and where we had been/ were going next. We felt "at home" at The Alphorn and would recommend it to others visiting Interlaken!!!

Room Tip: A room with a balcony is advisable in Summer, as there is no air-con. We opened the doors and window...

We stayed here 3 nights while hiking this area. Very close to train station - easy walk (even when we had to walk through pouring rain!). We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who helped us get a bit settled (since we were dripping water everywhere) before we did the check in process.

Our Swiss friend who we were traveling with selected this hotel for location, location, location - close to mass transit, resturants, shops and downtown area. This hotel off the main street and in a quiet neighborhood. This was the second place we stayed in Switzerland that charge our entire stay on our card upon arrival - guess it is common here at smaller places. Since our Swiss friend didn't bat an eye over this we just went with the flow. They gave us information about the surrounding areas and maps on how to get to the various hiking trail heads. Best of all they gave each of us a pass that was good for all the various modes of public transporation, some museums and discounts to a number of stores around Interlaken. We used it quite a bit on the various trams and trains with no problem - score!

Since this is a small place none of their staff stayed in the hotel overnight so in case of emergency there was an a big red emergency button to push and staff would be there "within 2 minutes". They had a key system that when you left you stuck your room key in a panel and turned it and pulled another key out (that was above it) that enable you to enter the hotel. So you did this same process when entering and leaving the hotel. We also experienced this system at other hotels in Switzerland so was accustom to it by the time we arrived here. We didn't have any problems so didn't have need for after hours staff or the emergency button.

We paid a bit more and received a spacious room with balcony overlooking the court yard. We had a small bathroom, sitting room with table and good size bedroom. It had free wifi, (computer downstairs for common use), what I like to call a two man elevator (but we mostly took the stairs) hair dryer, chocolate on the pillow, etc. The room was charming and clean.

Our friend paid less and had the same type of room except no sitting room and it was directly across the hall from us so very convient.

Tip - they did not have in-room safes so if you need one you could ask the receptionist if they had a hotel safe to use. We just carried our passport in a money belt - so no problem.

Continental breakfast in the downstairs common room - selections of breads, creal, hard boil eggs, fruit, juices, tea, coffee, etc. Quite good and all you can eat so you filled up before heading out.

It appears that most of the people who stayed here got up early and headed out because the two mornings we were having breakfast at 7:00 a.m. it was busy and the one morning we slepted in until 8:30 a.m. it we were the only people having breakfast.

So great stay and would stay here again

The hotel is a quick walk from the train station and the town center and was very quite and very comfortable. We had a really comfortable bed in a clean and airy room with a sitting area and balcony overlooking the mountains. Christine was so friendly and helpful, assisted us to use our time really well with our mountain and lake trips. Breakfast was delicious.

We stayed at this lovely hotel for 3 nights. Perfect location, on quiet street over-looked by mountains, close to town centre and station. Rooms spacious, spotlessly clean, bed really comfortable. Breakfasts were second to none, all the food so fresh and appetising! Delightful staff, always friendly and helpful. Will definitely return...!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Alphorn on our recent trip to Interlaken. The hotel is perfectly situated close to transport, restaurants and shops. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The lovely staff were very happy to assist us, particularly in helping us find good local restaurants and give advice on local attractions.
