“Great B&B!”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

We stayed in this hotel B&B for one night in a double room. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated, and the bed was very comfortable with a chocolate on each pillow. The bathroom was small but modern, with bar soaps and shampoo/body wash satchels provided. Breakfast was great as well, with fresh coffee or tea and an assortment of bread, meat, cheese, yoghurt, juice and milk. Great wi-fi signal. Located a 5 minute walk from the Interlaken West rail station, grocery store, shops and restaurants. My only complaint would have to be that the Christmas lights strung around the roof shone through our window blinds and were quite bright, but they shut off sometime around midnight. Would stay here again!

I was in this hotel for two nights, the hotel's location was very good, it is just few min. walking from west station and very close to the super market. the staff was very helpful & friendly (we really liked (christin) & others). Breakfast was with few options but very enough and reasonable. The hotel seems very new or recently refurbished & all the finishing looks new. bathrooms are very tight but clean.

Room Tip: I don't know about other rooms, but mine was with good view. The only problem in this hotel that...

We picked Hotel Alphorn as our base to visit Junfrau. Christine, a local swiss who runs the b&b single handedly with the help of her cleaner was the most lovely host we've met. She has a great sense of humour, 30 years working in Jamaica helps. The room was extremely spacious (we had room 205), bathroom was small but functional, very clean and quiet at night (unless you have noisy neighbors). Its 5 mins from Interlaken west station and the local migros supermarket, 5-10 mins from the main town of Interlaken west. Breakfast was great, fresh bread, juice, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yoghurt, fruits, ham, cheese and more. Wifi throughout the hotel. Don't hesitate to book.

Room Tip: Don't hesitate

My wife and I stayed here for three nights and absolutely enjoyed our stay. I called it Switzerland’s charming ‘little gem’ hotel. The friendliness and service offered by the small hotel was absolutely fantastic. The owner Christine and her off-sider Carmody, were absolutely delightful and genuine people to meet, and they both went out of their way to make our stay all the more memorable and enjoyable. On the last day of our stay it was pouring rain and Christine kindly drove us to the station. You would never get this type of friendliness at the bigger hotels. The room that we stayed in was very clean and pleasantly decorated. We had a balcony looking over the hills of Interlaken which was a delight. Breakfast was also very enjoyable and there were no frowns if you took some fruit to have during the day. The other guests staying here were also very friendly. The ‘little gem’ was ideally located close to shops, restaurants and a small walk from the Interlaken West Station. The best way to get to the hotel from the station is to walk out from the side of the station. You will see the store ‘Migros’ on your left. You cross over the round-about and walk down Rugenaustrasse and then turn first right into Rothornstrasse where the hotel is located. My wife and I highly recommend this charming hotel to anyone who wants to experience something special. Also look out for the beautiful dog hanging out the window next door to the Alphorn.

We (husband, sister-in-law and me) had a great stay here a few weeks ago. This B&B is a great value in expensive Switzerland. Very clean, comfortable and good breakfast. Yes, the bathroom is small, but given the great overall value of this hotel I would not let that detract from my rating.
I do not understand the comment from another reviewer about the owner of the hotel. We found the owner, Christine and her helpers to be very personable and very helpful. I strongly suspect the negative reviewer was the problem and not Christine. All the other guests we met staying at Hotel Alphorn were very happy with their choice, the owner and staff.
Location is great and for us the fact that there is parking was a big plus for us since we had a car.
We definitely recommend Hotel Alphorn and would stay here again.

There's not much you can say negatively about this place. The location is a very reasonable walking distance from the Interlaken West rail station (unless you have a LOT of heavy bags). Along the way, you'll pass on a few very small venues to eat at, but you will pass a Migros market. The beds were great, always made, always clean. The rooms were a normal size by European standards but probably considered small for people from the States (although, we've seen plenty of SMALL rooms in the States). The bathroom felt small (especially the shower) but very efficient. Nothing in excess. Breakfast was always good, typical Swiss/Bavarian style with lots of breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt, soft boiled eggs, etc. The service we received was very good, especially upon check-in. When you arrive you may notice a sign saying check-in is not allowed during certain hours. I don't get frustrated when you see this. We arrived during this window (presumably a room cleaning window) and lucked out. The lady that was working that day had just finished cleaning our room and had no problem letting us check in early so we could drop our bags and get out on the trails. The only thing we wish would have been better was a little communication regarding the ice maker (it is in the stairwell) and there is a small fridge in the dining area that has beer/wine in it. There is a sign on the door to the fridge but everything is in German. We could only read some of the words and thus did not know if it was available for guests (for sale or for free) or if guests were to steer clear of it. Other than that, we certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
