Hotel is located on the main street of this quaint little town about an 8 minute walk from the train station. Walk to the hotel from the train is slightly uphill but very manageable - location puts you in the centre of town which is perfect. Lovely greeting on arrival with a complimentary drink selection of glass of wine or herbal juice - a very nice touch. We arrived early (before room was ready) and the hotel staff were very accommodating in looking after our luggage. Luggage was moved directly to our room when ready.

Room was good size (room 214) with smallish but spotless bathroom. Good sized balcony with 2 chairs/table and a fabulous view of the Eiger mountain. Free bus pass was also included for the length of our stay.

We only stayed the one night, leaving early the next morning to catch our train. We settled our account in the evening and when the staff commented that we would miss breakfast (provided), went out of their way to pack us a breakfast bag each for the next morning. Our "care package" included meat/cheese on a bun, cereal bar, nuts, apple, cheese, crackers and apple juice. This treat was delivered directly to our room that evening.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

Everything was excellent for our stay at the Eiger. Gisela and her team were exceptional and made us feel very welcome. Food was outstanding throughout our stay and we loved the choice on offer for our Evening meal. We were very privileged to join the 'Erntedankfest' and had a great night partying and trying the local specialities. We can't wait to return.

We had a beautiful, spacious room with a balcony and a great view of the Mount Eiger. The wellness - center looks excellent. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use it. The staff makes you feel at home. The hotel offers a lot of little surprises like home made Ice Tea on your room, fresh fruits or a mineral water for your journey back home. We really enjoyed the hostability.

We had read great reviews on Tripadvisor but nothing really prepared us for our stay at the Eiger. We were greeted with smiling faces and a glass of wine on reception whilst the receptionist checked us in after our train journey. Our rooms were very comfortable and large with a great view of the Eiger. The hotel had an exceptional restaurant in which we were able to choose anything from the main restaurant menu despite being on Half Board. Both girls who served us in the restaurant spoke excellent English and did everything they could to make our evening meals special. The food was some of the best we have had on holidays abroad and we will definitely return to experience more of the things on the menu. It was also nice to meet the owner during our evening meal. She popped in on our first night to check that everything was going well and then talked to us during breakfast and at other times during the visit. Breakfast provided a good variety of choices and was served in a separate room. We loved the cakes which were served in an afternoon and thought it was a great touch to have these being made by local ladies from the Grindelwald area. As part of your local guest pass you get free use of the local pool which was worth the wander across the road. On our final evening we were invited to a thanksgiving evening. We were a little confused as to what this entailed but were assured by reception that it would be a great evening for guests and regular customers. We were welcomed again by the family and had a super evening visiting the stalls of the local food providers and eating and drinking lots! This was a superb ending to our 10 day tour of France and Switzerland. We loved the party and feel priveleged to have met the family and staff. We will definitely return to Grindelwald and will not hesitate to stay at the Eiger. Thanks to all

Relying on Travel Advisor we booked a deluxe double view room. The staff greeted us in a friendly manner and accommodated a request for a feather pillow replacement. The mountain view was fine but the 4th floor room with a balcony overlooked the noisy street. It was very warm in the room so we opened the door and endured car, truck and motorcycle traffic, not to mention the smell of a cigar from a balcony below. We closed the door and left the room for a stroll and dinner. Dinner at the casual restaurant on the street was fine but returning to a hot room was not pleasant. We opened the balcony door, a hallway window and our room door to get some ventilation. It helped a bit but we had to close our room door when went to bed. Despite the noise from the street below we made it to sleep but we were awakened around midnight by loud partying from across the street that went on until 2AM
and there there was a heavy smell of cigarettes wafting into the room from the balcony below. We are sensitive to it so we had to close the balcony door once again. It was so
warm in the room that we had to reopen the door at 3am and fell asleep until 5:30 when the
cigarettes were lit up again from below. We waited until 6 and opened the room and
balcony doors to cool it down. Finally, we got some sleep!

The staff offered to move us to a different room but we passed because rainy weather was coming in and frankly we didn't want to stay in the town any longer, so we abandoned our prepaid room and left town looking for some tranquility.

We recommend that you look for a hotel further up the valley for a peaceful stay.

We recommend that youbask from a room

Room Tip: Ask for a room in a building away from the street
