The hotel locates at the centre of Grindelward, took us about 5 mins to walk there from the Train Station. The room is not big but is very clean. The best part of my stay in the hotel is that I had a room with balcony facing the mountain, and what a view!

Other parts of the hotel are also ok, friendly staff, buffet breakfast. But the toilet is probably a bit too small and there is no free wifi (I wont spend time on the computer in Grindelward anyway). Its also worth mentioning that the hotel has got two buildings, one named "Crystal Jungfrau Lodge", having a more modern outlook and may have better view to the mountains located just across the street , the other one, shown in the picture, is the main building with a traditional "wooden" style. So travellers may better indicate your preference when you book this hotel. I stayed in a room in the main building and its overall a wonderful experience.

The lodge is conveniently located at a 5 minute walk from the Grindelwald train station. We were a family of 5 and were offered 2 rooms next to each other (a three bedroom & a two bedroom) which were connected by a common balcony. It seemed to be the only such combination in the entire hotel. The views of the Aiger mountains from the room windows and balcony were simply amazing. The bathroom was well equipped and the breakfast was decent. The flooring was wooden and as a result made noise whenever someone walked on it. But we did not near noises of people walking in the rooms located above our rooms (not sure if those rooms were occupied though!). The overall look of the hotel was very typical of a chalet in a mountain city. The hotel seemed really old but was equipped with most modern amenities. Would love to go back for another stay at this hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Jungfrau Lodge in February 2011, as a home base for skiing. From the first welcome, and throughout our stay, the staff at this family run hotel were always friendly and helpful. The hotel is divided into two sections; the older (but very well maintained) original Swiss Mountain Hotel and the newer Crystal Hotel, directly across the street. Some rooms have magnificent views of the Eiger mountain.

Breakfast and dinner are served in the Swiss Mountain Hotel’s dining room. Breakfast consisted of fruit (fresh and canned), a variety of hot and cold cereals, sliced ham and salami, cheeses, eggs, freshly baked pastries and breads, coffee, tea, and orange juice. Something for everyone’s tastes, and certainly enough to fuel our morning of skiing. Dinners were always well presented and delicious. Each night, there would be an appetizer, soup, main course, and dessert. Always something different, and delicious.

The ski bus stops about 50 meters from the hotel and the train station is about 350 meters away, in central Grindelwald. The number 11 and 12 buses will both take you to the train station in the center of town. The number 12 bus continues on to the gondola ski lift for the Grindelwald-First ski area. From the train station, you can catch the train to Keine Scheidegg, the jumping off point for the massive ski areas of Keine Scheidegg and Mannlichen, which includes Wengen and the famous Lauberhorn Downhill racecourse. Murren and Schilthorn are a bit further away and requires two trains, but are well worth the trip.

Don’t forget to do stop for lunch at one of the many huts, located mid-mountain all throughout the area. Or, ski into town and buy some goodies for your own picnic lunch. It’s a perfect chance to take in the amazing views all around you, catch some sun and refuel for the afternoon’s adventures!

We had corner room in the new part of the hotel, which had a fabulous uninterrupted view of the Eiger. The building was a seventy's style concrete block which was not sympathetic with Alpine architecture. However, the room was comfortable, spacious with a balcony front and back.

The breakfast buffet was very good and was served in the old part of the hotel across the road. The breakfast room also had lovely views.

The staff were helpful and friendly.

Grindelwald is an excellent base for hiking. We went to the top station on the “First” cable car and walked back to the village via the beautiful Bachalpsee Lake.

I would recommend both the hotel and Grindelwald.
