Location --- a 10-15 minutes walk from the train station. Even though it might not be the most convenient hotel, I enjoy walking along the streets while admiring the view! There are also restaurants and supermarkets nearby so it's convenient to have meals and buy groceries.

Room --- booked a room with mountain view and balcony. Absolutely amazing. I would sit by the balcony for a couple of hours taking in the view. The bed is comfortable, with necessities such as slippers and basic toiletries. Although there is no air-conditioning, the weather in September is cool so keeping the windows open at night is cool enough.

Breakfast ---- the staff are helpful and attentive, with decent choices in food. Love sitting by the window to admire the view while having breakfast in the morning.

Pool area ---- love the jacuzzi --- you can look at the mountains while enjoying a relaxing warm bath. There are swimming pool and sauna, but I did not have the chance to use them.

Conclusion: Wonderful stay and would love to stay here again at Parkhotel Schoenegg. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Grindelwald!

We have been coming back to this hotel for 27 years, and this year, like every past visit, has been an absolute delight. It is our family's favorite location and hotel in the world. Their friendly staff arranged for three mountain facing rooms adjacent to each other so our family could be close together, and provided a free crib for our 14 month old grandson. Their service is second to none. The staff learn your names and interests, and help you get the most of your stay. The full breakfasts and multi-course dinners are exceptional, creative, and bountiful, and generate memories we talk about for years. The lounge is such an inviting place to sit, meet other guests, and enjoy the refreshments available. The rooms are attractive, with comfortable beds, and great bathrooms. Most memorable are the unparalleled views of the mountains and glaciers while sitting on your balcony. This hotel is well situated to access all the transportation options needed to explore the region via cable car, train, and bus, and is a key reason we buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass through the hotel during our summer visits. It provides easy access to the superb, scenic hiking trails of the region. The Aqua Well center, with its pool, jacuzzi, and sauna and views of mountains was a key reason we first selected this hotel 27 years ago, in case the weather turned, so the children's fun could continue, and it is still just as pleasing and fun and high quality today. As we left, we began discussing about when we'd come back again.

Room tip: Ask for mountain facing rooms. They are well worth the extra cost.

From reception to the bar, from porters to housekeeping and the dining room, I cannot fault the staff at Parkhotel Schoenegg. All were friendly and attentive to our needs. Our German is not great but thankfully the staff were all superb communicators in English, puts us to shame! Host Ingo Schmoll clearly cares a great deal about the guests and spoke to everyone in the dining room several times during our stay. The 5 course meals in the dining room started with a salad bar which was fresh and varied every night. The starter either fish or vegetarian - the soups were particularly good. For main we had a choice of a meat, fish or vegetarian dish. As a pescatarian I can't comment on the meat but the others were delicious with some Swiss specialities. Desserts were light and we had the option of cheese as well. The home made ice-cream in the bar in the afternoons was a lovely treat as were the home made crisps served with drinks (we walked a lot so I think we deserved them!).
Our rooms had a garden view and were well-sized, clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning but despite hitting mid-20's during the day it cools at night in the mountains. The windows open wide and it was fine.
The swimming pool immaculately clean and so fresh looking I was surprised to find out that it hadn't been installed this year. For a hotel pool it was refreshing to find one large enough to swim in! The whirlpool with a view of the Eiger was a real treat!
In terms of location it's a 10 minute (easy) walk from the train station, 2 minutes from the Grindelwald First cable car and 5 minutes to the Pfingstegg cable car.

Second time visiting Grindelwald and also staying at the Park Hotel Schoenegg. Wonderful airy hotel, well kept with friendly staff and warm host, Ingo. Comfortable beds, a balcony view to die for and delicious breakfast and evening meals provided a great base to head out for daily walking in the mountains and then on to the Main Street for drinks and relaxing in an evening. If walking is your thing, the Eiger Trail is recommended or if you’d rather let trains do the work, a visit to the Jungfraujoch is a must. Beautiful region with a top hotel to assist in making your holiday a success.

Room tip: Balcony view at hotel front; awesome view of the mountains.

Just returned from yet another memorable stay at Parkhotel Schoenegg in Grindelwald. It is difficult to identify one particular element that provides that exceptional ‘feel good factor’ but I think it is the combination of the hotel and its amenities, its location and the amazing staff team that makes this such a special place to stay. The hotel itself is situated just slightly above the main street, with spectacular views towards the mountains. These views are seen from the front facing rooms, the lounge, dining room and outside terrace as well as the Jacuzzi in the swimming pool area! When the weather is fine, both breakfast and dinner can be taken outside on the terrace. There are not many places where you can enjoy great meals whilst gazing onto mountains and glaciers. The hotel has a ‘Wellness’ Centre with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, a relaxing option after a day exploring the area. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
No review of the Parkhotel Schoenegg would be complete without a mention of the staff team, now led by Manager, Ingo Schmoll, they provide a first class service to their guests. The reception staff, led by Anja, are really helpful for any queries you may have, whilst the dining room team, led by Manuel, is friendly and efficient and take care of any dietary requirements. Sandra, the head chef, goes from strength to strength in the meals being provided. All in all, a very special place.
