“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

We enjoyed our long weekend at the Schoenegg very much! The staff was very friendly, attentive and commited and the hotel was very clean. The food was excellent and the breakfast buffet wonderful with lots of choice. I am a vegetarian and there was plenty for me. We had a garden view room, the room itself was big enough, very clean and the beds comfortable. There was not much of a view, but then we weren't there to sit in our room and look out of the window ;) It was quiet during the night and the location was excellent, just steps from the First Bahn and plenty of other restaurants and bars close by. On a rainy day we sat in the wonderful jacuzzi and had a swim in the pool, we were lucky as we had it all to ourselves for a while. It might be a bit on the expensive side, but I'd recommend it all the same.

Room Tip: If you don't intend to sit around in your room all day then a garden view room is just fine!

We had a very enjoyable tour around France and Switzerland but the four days we spent in Grindelwald were the highlight of our holiday. We were welcomed on arrival at the Schoenegg by Thomas the owner, who excels at customer service. The hotel has an excellent position just out of the centre of the lovely town. The views from our room were fabulous, such a treat to wake up to views of the Eiger and the glacier each morning. The breakfast and dinner were of a very high standard and all staff were pleasant and helpful at all times. We thoroughly enjoyed swimming and the jacuzzi after a long day of walking and have come back with many happy memories of our stay.

We spent a week in July for our family vacation and my retirement, birthday and wedding anniversary. We have been coming back to this hotel for more then 30 years. From the moment we arrived till when Thomas dropped us off at the train station we experienced friendly, professional first class service. As always Thomas and his wife Anja welcome you and make you feel at home. Manuel who directs the wait staff tends to your every need with a warm friendly professional manner. The meals are delicious.. Our rooms have been updated over the years and provide excellent views with first class accommodations.. We can't say enough about how well Thomas and Anja run this family owned Hotel. It is worth every Franc you pay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Eiger on the second or third floor.and try to stay at least 3 nights.

Very friendly staff, great view to the glacier (very little snow for the moment though), quiet location.
We had a good sized room with balcony facing the mountains. Both the room itself and the bathroom had lots of ranging space which was very useful as we were travelling with many suitcases.
The only down points: little ventilation which made it difficult for the room to cool down even at night; no room service for dinner.

We have returned (as have a multitude of others) to this excellent family run hotel on many occasions. No matter the interval between visits the staff are always acknowledge we are returning customers and welcome us back. The owners are visible on daily and always stop for conversation and a check that all is well. It is excellent value for money, nothing is too much for the staff who are all extremely friendly. The hotel loction is excellent winter or summer.

Stayed for three nights as part one of a two centre visit to Switzerland. Our second visit to the Parkhotel. Excellent once again. Close to the town centre but calm and peaceful. A superb family-run hotel with nice Swiss touches. A large family room with a separate area for our daughter, friendly staff, lovely swimming pool, good food and - of course - excellent views plus easy access to trains, buses, walks, etc. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to get to know this area of Switzerland. We'll definitely be going back.

Thanks!

We stayed for 7 nights on a summer special (half board plus 6 day Jungraubahntravel pass) and were very well looked after (as in our previous four summer visits). Thomas, Anja and all the staff at the Parkhotel Schoenegg always make you feel most welcome and look after all your needs.
The hotel is well situated in the village near the cable cars and a short walk from the railway station. The views of the Eiger from the front of the hotel are stunning (particularly from the terrace at breakfast looking up at the climbers heading for the summit through Thomas' telescope). The food at breakfast and dinner is excellent and varied, and the rooms clean and spacious. Grindelwald is most definitely worth a visit, and if you do, the Parkhotel Schoenegg is the place to stay!

Room Tip: Book a room with a balcony and mountain view - it is well worth the small extra charge
