“Excellent views in all directions”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

From First via the Bachsee walk, carry on up the pass and turn right to the Faulhorn, reputedly one of thre oldest hotels in Switzerland, pereched on the top. The effort is well rewarded with stunning views to the north and the Brienzersee, with a panorama of mountain views in all other directions including the Eiger, Wetterhorn, Shilthorn etc. Preferred shorter return via Bussalp or back to First.

“15km Taboggan run of Epicness down Faulhorn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

Its exactly as the title states, it was 15 full kilo metres of epicness. There is a bit of work envolved and the price does add up, but this is the worlds longest taboggan run and the ride is worth it, not only are you racing down steep slopes and carving up snow at some crazy speeds dodging other sleders and trying your hardest not to stack (espicially if your very ametuar like myself) but your doing all this through some very beautiful country side surrounded by breathtaking views. This is not for the Fient hearted, at the start the slopes are pretty steep with alot of jumps and your flying into some pretty tight corners, but its exhilirating and alot of fun, that sad part is you only have enough time and maybe energy to do this once a day, if you were staying in Grindelwald and have a ski pass there are other tracks you can do aswell but for us it was just a day trip from Interlaken. First off if your starting in Interlaken you need to catch the train or bus to Grindelwald where you rent the Taboggans and whatever other gear you need, then its a Gondala to the Ski resort called First, then comes the 2.5 hour walk up to the top of Faulhorn, there are a few downhill parts where you can get a little practice on the taboggan which helped alot. The track is well marked and easy to find, there were alot more people doing it than we had expected, the track starts off easy but slowly gets steeper and steeper. We didnt rush it we just enjoyed the scenery as we went. Once you get close to the top theres a start sign or you can walk up even further but its alot steeper. For all the effort and cost it was worth, you can even stop half way down for a few cold drinks or warm ones and some food. There was alot of snow while we were there so we were able to sledge down to about a 100metre walk away from Grindelwald where we returned our taboggans and caught the train back. You deffinatly need to take the same gear you would hiking/skiing and some good footwear to dig in to help turn, alot of water and food. Very much worth the effort not only for the fun but also for the scenery.

“Ouch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

We walked from Schinege Platte to First and took the detour over Faulhorn. It was hot, 30+ degrees in the full mid afternoon sun, but it was well worth it. The views from the top are beautiful and it is such a reward to get there and enjoy that view.

We neither ate nor drank here, we simply used the shade to cool off and the toilets.

If you are in the area this should be everyone's number one target.

“Great view, long journey!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

Come prepared! Well worth the effort but this is a strenuous path and I had some altitude sickness towards the top and it started getting very cold as the sunset. But, an incredible view especially at night or during the sunrise/sunset. It took my friends and I 5 and a half hours hiking from Grindelwald - First - Faulhorn. But, we had backpacks and stopped frequently for pictures! You will definitely want to as well, beautiful scenery.

“Great high alpine walk to get here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

Recommend walking from First to Schinege Platte and going to the top of the Faulhorn for the views - a classic alpine walk and we'll worth the effort
