We visited Grindelwald and First on 1st week of August with our 18 months old baby. It's really a great place to experience swiss alps. Grindelwald is a small village and easy to explore with beautiful views everywhere.
From grindelwald, we took the Gondola(small cable car) to Grindelwald First. It took 30 mins and the views are really really awesome. The cliff walk on top is exciting and adventurous.
One good thing we experienced is people in tourists information centers are really friendly and helpful.
I wish to visit again in winters to experience the apls filled with snow.

You can take this gondola to the top for the best views, the cliff walk, hiking trails, and a good restaurant. The first level down from top offers paragliding and the three wheel scooters. The second level down are the Trotti bikes and more hiking and restaurants. You need at least two days to be able to take advantage of all the choices.

Beautiful view, nice hiking trail. Cliff walk was nice but abut crowded. Many fun activities there, such as the mountain cart, first flyer and first glider.

A very beautyfull trip to the First mountain. It takes about half an hour to get there. There are a lot things to do for adults but also children. One of the best things is the Cliff walk. Around the mountain with thrilling view, a good adrenaline walk.
You can walk to the Bachalpsee with an amazing view to the great mountains. There are three stops you can plan and do Some activities
If you are around just go, you Will have No regrets.

With the Swiss travel card this was a good value trip up into the mountains. We did the glider - a four person zip wire type activity from one cable car station to the one below - scary being pulled backwards but exhilarating going forwards. Get there early for the activities as we noticed the queue times soon increase. We then enjoyed a drink at one of the restaurants before walking to the lake. This was a leisurely stroll of about an hour along a well signposted path. The view from the lake was world class. The cable car system ran well - no big queues and a smooth ride.
