Owner description: Icy air streams across your face, snow crunches under your feet, and the view nearly takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Mittelland up to the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch glacier, bordered by four thousand metre peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 metres above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

We had a fantastic day on our journey up the Jungfraujoch.
We had been watching the weather and once the forecast indicated clear skies we made plans for the following morning.
we were travelling from Wengen so took the first train at the not too outrageous time of 7.24 and were at the top before 9. We were keen to walk on the glacier so headed straight for the snow, walked over to the Monchjochhutte- an hour walk along a well marked and safe path across the glacier .It is mostly uphill on the way and you really feel the altitude , a certain degree of fitness is certainly needed to do much activity once at the top. We had breakfast and a rest at the Monchjochhutte before heading back.

the sun is really strong , so you need to make sure to wear sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. We all wore good walking shoes with decent grips which were perfectly adequate, mine were not waterproof and were fine but i think the snow may get slushier as the day wears on . It wasn't very cold, we wore t-shirts, light fleece sweaters and our waterproof jackets and were warm enough.

Our boys, 7 and 8 loved the sledging - and at 10 SF each for 2 hours- we thought it was good value.

We also visited the Lindt chocolate shop- the prices were cheaper than in the supermarket in Wengen.

But it gets really really crowded as the day goes on , i can certainly emphasise with some of the other reviews about feeling "herded " onto and off the train so my tip would be to go early if possible.

Visited in 2012. Nice experience. Top of Europe. Very well thought out train journey to the top. We get to see the glaciers. Make sure it is a clear day so that views from the top are nice.

The Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe is the highlight of any Swiss holiday. The highest railway station in Europe is located 3,454 metres above sea level. The visitors gain access to a high-Alpine wonderland of ice, snow and rock, which they can admire from the viewing platforms on the Aletsch Glacier or in the Ice Palace .

The railway journey to the Jungfraujoch is an experience which leads through the Eiger and the Mönch. At the Eismeer and Eigerwand intermediate stations, visitors can enjoy the wonderful view.

The whole experience of travelling to the top of Europe from Zurich was memorable. We hoped on a tour bus from Zurich which took us to Luzern and then through beautiful scenery and lakes to Interlaken and then from there to a train station which took us to the mountain. The train was at an angle the whole time we were going up and it was one of a kind. The history of that train track and mountain was pretty interesting. There are alot of places to check out once you are on the top and it was definitely worth going if you are nearby. We went during the best time of the year, which is why we werent freezing when we were on the mountain. Snow was amazing there too :)

We visited Jungfraujoch whilst on holiday which was great!
The children who are 10 and 16 absolutely loved the sledging, we couldn't get them away from it! The views are absolutely stunning once up there and you can not believe how they managed to create this place on the top of a mountain....amazing!
There is so much to see when up there and we spent the whole afternoon looking around.
It is an amazing trip but very expensive and it has to be booked in advance due to there being a limit on visitors per day! Well worth the visit....would visit again!!
