“Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

A must-do when visiting Switzerland! It is a bit pricey and it is a long day, but the experience (from the Alpine Sensation) and the views (from the Sphinx) are worth it!! Be sure to drink lots of water and ease your breathing, you may experience mild altitude sickness because you will travel up to an elevation of 3,454 meters or 11,332 feet.

“Jungfrau- Must do in Switzerland!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

Our highlight of a weeklong trip to Switzerland! Must keep aside a full day from Interlaken for the trip. takes about 2 1/2 hours each side for the journey. We had the Swiss pass so had to buy the ticket to Jungfrau which is given at a 25% discount for the pass holders. Expensive at around CHF 130 but worth the price. We took the train from one side of the mountain and came back from the other side covering both routes. Do carry enough warm clothing if you plan to go out in the snow at the top.

“Top Of Europe - Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

Anyone travelling to Switzerland should try to include The Top of Europe trip in their itinerary. It is expensive and can be quite taxing if you have infants travelling with you. But it will be an experience of a life time. For me it was, especially since its the first time seeing snow even after many visits to Europe before.

The journey starts from Interlaken OST and taken around 2.5hours one way. Add to that a couple of hours of tour at the top and another 2.5 hours return journey. You require a good part of the day for this trip. Since I had the Swiss pass, we had to pay only CHF 131 oer head for the trip. Otherwise, I think, it is around 190 CHF.

You get all necessary instructions from the ticket office itself on all tha train schedules and the different connections. The first leg of the journey is from Interlaken OST to Lauterbrunnen and from there to Kleine Schneidegg and the next one from there to Jungfrauch. During the final leg, the train stops at couple of stations for 5 minutes each so that people could savour the view and snap some memories. Being an Indian, it was interesting to note that the train from Kleine Schneidegg to Jungfrau is named after late Bollywood Film Maker Yash Chopra. The total journey in itself is an experience since you get to enjoy such wonderful scenery.

At the top, one has to follow the TOUR sign to see the attractions there which includes an ice sculpture museum. There are two or three restaurants including a Bolly wood restaurant. True to Swiss tradition, everything is expensive, but you need to savour the experience and not worry about the cost when you are experiencing something wonderful.

Apart from the scenery, what one should admire and understand is the effort that must have gone into building this mountain railway way back in the early 1900s. Hats off to all those people behind that and to all those who are maintaining this in pristine condition.

The return journey takes a different route from Kleine Schneidegg to Grindelwald providing breath taking views. Dont miss this if you are in Switzerland

“Jungfrau...A Train Trip to the Top of Europe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

A trip to the "Top of Europe" is a "must" for travelers in the Bernese Oberland area. The scenic train journey on the Jungfrau Railway begins at a number of destinations. Pricing varies accordingly. The 2 1/2 hour excursion from Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald costs 197.00 Swiss Francs roundtrip, (161 euros or $209.00 US). The trip is discounted 25% for Swiss Pass holders.

The train travels through the Eiger and stops inside the mountain at Eigerwand and Eismeer. The train continues to climb to Europe's highest train station elevation, and arrives at Jungfraujoch.

Travelers will be thrilled with the views, the Ice Palace, the glaciers, and the Sphinx.

“Amazing swiss train to the top of the europe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

We visited Jungfrau in summer, peak time for the tourist. The weather was perfect & the journey to the top was jaw dropping. Its hard to imagine how much time, money & manpower has been spent to make the journey to Jungfrau possible.
Don't miss this attraction if you are in switzerland. Its a wonderful place, a bit expensive but well worth it.
