The hote is located in the heart of the city. Walking distance to many attractions. We were there during the weekend and we enjoyed the market.
The hotel staff are very helpful and speaks very good English. Breakfast was fabulous with very polite staff. The hotel is connected to a fitness center but we did not use it. Our room was very big for two persons. When we got into the room there was a personal note from the manager welcoming us and a plate of fresh fruits. I think this was a very good gesture. We had stayed in many 5 stars hotel but never experienced such welcome in the states.

Room Tip: Our room was reserved for us my our local friends.

In traveling to Zurich we were advised to stop and visit St. Gallen... for the church (and fantastic library), the shops, the "red carpet" center, old town, etc. We did... and we LOVED the town and the hotel! All the people were so friendly!

The Einstein Hotel in particular was spectacular--the front desk and restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and helpful (and spoke great English, thank you!), and the rooms were great! We learned a little German and had a great dinner in the restaurant. I wish we could go back soon.

A wonderfully renovated hotel in an impressive location overlooking St Gallen. The facilities were great and the staff very helpful. Unfortunately they also run a conference centre across the street, and maybe it was just my bad luck, but the crowd from the conference was very noisy. It made the breakfasts rather unpleasant (I felt like I was in a train station) and the noise in the evening from them partying in the hotel pub was distracting as well.

This is possibly the best ( and priciest ) hotel in Sankt Gallen. Very conveniently loacted in the center in walking distance to the oldtown. Great choices of restaurants and watering holes to spend a lovely evening with friends and collegues.
Ample parking is provided with anerican sized parking lots.
The staff is very friendly and wireless is free on the business floor. Beds and Bathrooms are very comfy UNTIL 6 AM. At this time for no apparent reason a noise terror from the adjacent church bells sets in, which make you stand upright in the bed! By all means insist on rooms street side and take some earplugs with you. Impossible to sleep, most of the guests then convene in the breakfast room in an adjacent building. Thisa room has the charm of a prison cafeteria and breakfast selection from the buffet is somethings you would expect in a 2 star southern European B&B.

Room Tip: By all means insist on a room facing the old town when you make a booking, if they want to give you...

Dear Mr or Mrs Fedn

Many thanks for your feedback on TripAdvisor in regard to your recent stay at the Einstein St.Gallen. It is a great pleasure to read all your positive comments and your rating of us being the best hotel in town. We like to thank you for these compliments which we gladly will share with the entire team.

For sure we have not missed your further remarks and dissatisfaction about the church bells on Sundays. St.Gallen’s Cathedral with its Library are a UNESCO Word Heritage and one of the main tourist attractions; needless to say, we are very proud of being ideally located within just a few minutes of walking distance to the old town. Excellent sleeping comfort, however, is a service we praise ourselves of providing to all of our guests. We will be more than happy to offer you a room at the other side of the building further away from the cathedral where you will not be facing the sounds of the bells.

Awoken from the sounds of the bells, we can truly understand that it was probably difficult to make up for such discomfort simply with a great breakfast. We sincerely apologise if we did not succeed in doing so that particular morning. However, we feel it is important to know that Einstein’s award winning breakfast buffet offers close to two dozen of different breads and bakery items, eight kind of yoghurts, six kind of fresh fruits and an equal number of fresh fruit and vegetable juices, a selection of five cold cuts and five cheeses as well as half a dozen of hot breakfast items. Further, upon guest request our breakfast Chef is happy to prepare more than a dozen of a la minute breakfast dishes. Together with a variety of some twenty different flavours of teas and ten coffee specialties we generally succeed to meet, yet go beyond the expectation of our distinguished customers. We truly hope we will impress you too during your next visit to the Einstein St.Gallen.

We thank you for your valuable feedback and look forward to your next visit to the Einstein St.Gallen - Hotel Congress Spa.

With very best regards

The hotel has no air conditioning and we would not go there again in summer. The heat in our room was stifling and we could not sleep. Hotel location is great for walking in the old town, however the hotel is not well connected by public transport from/to the main station and one should consider about 15 minutes walking (incl. climbing a steep street) which is not very convinient if you carring luggage with you. Room furniture - so 80es (or classical), the carpet and the curtains looked quite shabby - hardly 4 star. We found dead wasps near the windows.
We really liked the staff - all stuff members we met were extremely friendly and helpful.

Dear “Linea S”.

Thank you very much for choosing the Einstein St.Gallen - Hotel Congress Spa during your recent trip to St. Gallen and for sharing your views with us on Tripadvisor.

It is always a great pleasure to read so positive comments on the friendliness and helpfulness of our staff and, of course, the very central location of our hotel. I have shared your encouragements with my entire team and I know this will further motivate them to keep up with their good work.

We are very sorry to read your dissatisfaction with the hot summer temperatures and the impression you had on the public transportation. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. Indeed the hotel rooms have no central air-conditioning as most hotels in Switzerland do not have. St.Gallen is situated at 700 meters above sea level and fortunately counts very few days with night temperatures above 20°C. After an awful cold and wet spring we were happy to have a record hot and sunny summer, not realizing until now that this may present an inconvenience to some of our guests. Be assured however that we can provide split A/C units on request for anybody who prefers it cooler. We updated your guest profile accordingly and will be able to provide you with an air conditioned room during your next visit on a hot summer day.

Please feel free to use bus No. 12 that departs from the St.Gallen main train station every 20 minutes. The 2nd bus stop (after 2 minutes ride) is called “Einstein” and is right around the corner of our house. The fee for the bus ride maybe included in your train ticket anyway. Alternatively, you may walk the 650 meters from the station to the hotel via the St.Leonardstrasse in approximately 10 minutes without any steep streets in between.
In regards to room furniture we have indeed two categories of rooms. The comfort rooms are rather the classical Swiss traditional style. The business as well as the ladies floors however are consisting of much more modern style and spacious rooms with higher ceiling, nespresso coffee machine and bath tubs.

It is thanks to the feedback of guests like you that enables us to constantly improve our services and we are very grateful for this. We truly hope to be able to welcome you back to the Einstein St.Gallen in the very near future.

With very best regards
