“Thanks to Tripadvisor. We have lived here for 5 years”
Reviewed April 29, 2012

Thanks to Tripadvisor, we visited this restaurant last night. We haver lived in Neuchatel for 5 years and there is not a restaurant I could recommend until now. Pay special attention to the other reviews that explain how to find this little gem. It is tucked away and has no advertising. You might get all the way to the front door and turn away, thinking that you must be in the wrong place. Keep going as this place is well worth the visit. The food is very modestly priced for a restaurant in Switzerland and incredibly delicious. All the tables, of which there were a lot in a relatively small space, were reserved - you must book. The italien proprietors are wonderfully friendly and when, at the end of the meal, we went to pay with a credit card (which they do not accept), we were invited to call back tomorrow to settle our bill. Enjoy :)

“Never Mind the Duct Tape”
Reviewed February 10, 2012

First off- Famiglia Leccese is not a relaxing night out. The cacophonous mess rings through your ears from start to finish. It's crowded and cramped in about 3 rooms. The entranceway has a foosball table that customers can pound away at. The look of the place has seen better days. The tables have well worn tack paper and the walls need a paint job badly. Honestly though, who cares! The food is simple and done right. It ain't fancy, but the flavors are "right on." I had spaghetti with clams and my wife had their signature pizza. Both dishes were excellent. Their olive oil is authentic as well as the spices and sausage and whatnot. You can tell. Looking around I noticed the grilled things were doing brisk business. I have had their grilled octopus before at a festival and it was the best I've ever had. I'd been warned that the staff is tough and impatient with long waits for food. I didn't find this to be the case. They were all very efficient and accommodating. I will definitely return, just not on a night when I want to solace.

“Lovely italian food”
Reviewed August 20, 2011

Just landed in Neuchatel and searching for a place to go consulted with reliable Tripadvisor. Hence, since this restaurant happened to be beside the hotel, did not have a doubt. We enjoyed very nice Italian food and it matches with recent reviews. If you look for a non fancy place, with delicious Italian stuff, go for it. You will not regret it. You may even pay with Euros. No credit cards accepted.

“Unfortunatelly the food quality is decreasing due to his huge success!”
Reviewed May 2, 2011

It used to be my favourite Italian restaurant.... Great food, home atmosphere, nice owner, so attractive price... to summarize a little piece of Italian familly house !

but they have a tremendous success and unfortunatelly the food is not any more as it used to be!

I am going less and less and I am sorry about that... It was so great in the past!

Pizza remains goods, "polpo alla griglia" is either burnt or not enough cooked due to the over-crowded attendance.... Capraccio di manzo is a shame, full of water...

Well you can try it but you will disappointed....

“Absolutely a must!”
Reviewed February 7, 2011

This place is almost impossible to find. There are no signs anywhere. It is
located on rue de l'Ecluse in the same building as some motor company selling bikes. The door is decorated with fancy color lights, then take another door to your right. The place looks odd, more like a small village tavern, but the food was really great. We paid 105CHF for two starters, two main dishes, terrific home-baked bread and four apperitives. The place is not simply a nice restaurant, but a separate attraction of the city. If you travel by car, you have to turn right just after the building and park under the bridge leading into the tunnel. There is a small communal car-park there. By the way, don't go there if you have a headache. The place can be really noise, especially with lots of kids on the spot.
