What a beautiful hike! Deer, Ibex and the whole place to ourselves!
We drove to Noiraigue, and left the car in the free parking area near the information office, where we collected a free map. The signs are easily followed (provided you follow the walking ones, not the cycling - they go in different directions)!
From ferme Roberts to the Creux-du-Van, there was quite a lot of snow (in some parts up to mid-calf when stepping in other footsteps - deeper if you mis-stepped), but we managed with sneakers and wet feet.
At the top, the views are spectacular - we were lucky enough to have a clear day (you can check the webcam before you go) - and we had a small picnic. We saw some deer along the path, and 7 ibex walking along the fence at the top - who seemed happy to pose for photos!
We walked down via the hairpin turns, which were super slippery with all the snow and ice - we both fell a few times! I would recommend climbing up the hair pins, and descending via ferme roberts - it is less steep that way!
The whole hike took us almost 7 hours (including a long lunch, and lots of stops for photos and watching the ibex) - and the snow slowed us down quite a lot. We are in our 20s and trek quite often.
We had the entire place to ourselves (well, except for the animals)! I highly recommend this trip :)
