Looking for a nice place to serve steak tartare on our New Year's stroll through Lucerne, we stumbled across this interesting little place just by the Reuss. At first sight, it seemed to offer everything we wanted - cozy atmosphere, good (albeit on the pricier side of things) food and a busy guestroom.
Being insider however quickly changed things. After being told to pick our own table, we waited a full 15 minutes just to get the menu. The about twenty tables were being served by a single waitress and the entire operation seemed to lack a bit of organization. After ordering it took another 20 minutes for the first food to arrive. Now, on the positive side, the quality of food was excellent. The steak tartare was fresh and just as we liked it.
Was it worth 70CHF for two mains (1x tartare, 1x canneloni)? Maybe not. What really annoyed me though was the fact that when the bill came, we were charged a full 7.20CHF for 2x300ml of tap water. Never in my life was I charged for tap water and even for the wrong amount, as all we got was a caraffe of 0.5l water!
Too bad for the good food, as we left the place with a bitter aftertaste.
