We went to Thai Garden following the recommendation of a guidebook. The restaurant has a really nice, tranquil ambience that immediately transforms you into a different space. We were a group of 4, but only ordered 3 main courses to share because the seniors in our group did not have a big appetite. The food was tasty and fresh, but I didn't think it was that good to worth the price tag. This was okay - we did read the menu before deciding to sit down.
However, when we received our bill, we noticed that we were charged 5 CHF for the rice that was 'free of charge' as written clearly on the menu, and were charged another 5 CHF for tap water. The waitress explained that they had to do so because not everyone in our group ordered a main course. This would have been fine if we had been informed upon placing the order. But we were not, and these rules were not written on the menu. I left the restaurant feeling deceived - charged for rice that was explicitly stated to be free, and charged for tap water that cost the restaurant nothing to provide. CHF 10 is really not that big a deal to me, or to the restaurant, but this detail is enough to make a customer feel that this restaurant is too very calculating of the customer. I will not go back.
