We stayed in the junior suite as we wanted an ensuite and all the other rooms are share bathrooms. I agree with other reviewers about the basic level of the furnishings but I think thats the style of the place. I was disappointed with the suite having the bathroom downstairs and the huge bedroom upstairs. I am not good with stairs and being very narrow they were a death trap at night. Also agree about the lack of fire escape-the first thing my husband looks for being a building certifier. Having said that the room was OK and we were'nt worried by the bells or by insects. We did have some problems with parking and one night had to park quite some distance away.
I have to give Andrea a gold star for being very very helpful and friendly-she made the place.

This B&B is probably a bit more like a hotel with 3 floors and hotel looking rooms. The place is immaculately clean and the hostess is a lovely lady and very helpful regarding planning your time in Lucerne. The B&B is a good 15-20 minute walk from the centre which is its only downpoint, apart from the shared bathrooms (1 per floor ) and no sink in the rooms. For the price Id say it is good value as Lucerne is quite expensive however. Breakfasts are very nice and can be eaten outside in the cute garden area. There is a fridge that can be used to self cater.

This is part B&B and part hotel, by which I mean you can expect minimal interaction with the owner (Madeline?) or her daughter, who operate the place, and there are about 9 rooms available. We only interacted with the hired staff, though I enjoyed conversations with them

The good: The staff. Each was friendly and kind.
The bad: No air conditioning, though this is fairly common, I've learned. Still, we reserved the top floor suite and it was boiling. Perhaps 33deg C until midnight. We had to leave the windows open the whole night, which let in plenty of bugs. The wireless internet didn't work either, nor did anyone know how to correct it. They were willing to let us use a PC for free that had access (wired), but this didn't really solve our challenges, since all my files, VPN connection, and whatnot were on my laptop.

I agree with the other (July 28, 2008) comment about the Junior suite -- accommodations are sparse, though clean. I felt quite guilty taking a shower at 22:30 as I'm sure the sound carries throughout the floors, but that included my rushing around to make it work out -- an unneeded stress had I stayed at a hotel. Mirror the comments with the squeeky floors -- all the wood is "charming", but impossible to walk on (esp the stairs) without waking the neighborhood.

Street parking was plentiful, but that may vary wildly depending on when you're there.

Overall, I'd give the place a 3.5* just because of the people, but unfortunately, the accommodations themselves were closer to a 2*.

Good location, and very obliging staff, but the Junior Suite was really one of the most unwelcoming rooms we have ever stayed in. Up three flights of stairs to an attic room with a hospital-type metal double bed on wheels, no headboard, a bare hanging rail like in a clothes store for your clothes, a rough old sofa, an empty IKEA storage box, a glass table and that's about it - no flowers, pictures, decorations of any sort, just a bare, bare wooden room.
And the BELLS - the church bells ring every quarter of an hour right next to the room, right through the night, so not much sleep unless you are deaf.
Was not impressed by the breakfast either, mediocre small range of cold meats and cereals.
And lastly, perhaps most importantly, NO fire escape that we could find from this top-floor attic room in an old wooden house, and no fire escape directions or advice either!
Cost was 120 Euros for the suite, which was quite enough.
This seems to be a rooming house intended for students, as all facilities are shared, except for the Junior Suite with its own tiny bathroom, which was why we chose it.
But friendly - maybe great if you are under 40; we aren't.

The B+B must have engaged a professional photographer in order to take great pictures of the rooms which it can post on its website. When actually coming into the room it wasn't looking quite as you could have imagined from the pictures. Not that the pictures are wrong but they leave room for interpretation...

The rooms are furnished very scarcely. Breakfast is good but not as diverse as what we have seen in other B&Bs in Switzerland of the same price category. The location is also not central but very convenient if you need a night stop over on the way from North to South of Switzerland (or the South to the North), because it is located not too far from the motorway (5 mins by car).

The owner is a very nice lady and the atmosphere in the B+B is very good as many young people seem to stay there. We were chatting throughout the breakfast with other guests and got recommendations for our further trip.

THis is definitely a good place to stay! the lady is really nice and kind. Me and my girlfriend were just simply asking if the room will be hot at night as it is summer now and when we got back to the B and B at night after whole day travelling, we found a small fan in our room, provided by the lady.. really good ~ Very good location as well eventhough it is a bit walk to the train station. (15 - 20 minutes) .. You can also take bus to the B and b from the train station. very convenient. Half way from the train station to the B and B, there is a supermarket called MIGROS. it is really goood and you can buy lots cheap stuff here. there is also a self service restaurant above MIGROS, which i strongly recommend to everybody. Cheap and good FOOD! The Bed and Breakfast is absolutely good and i will certainly come back to this B and B again.

Just came back from a great stay here with my wife and baby .
The rooms were spacious, clean and welcoming.
The service was the most friendly I experienced in Switzerland, and that's saying something...
The breakfast was nicer than many a more expensive hotel.
The location was close enough to the city center that you could easily take a nice stroll there in the morning and back in the evening, and extremely accessible by bus from the city center.
