The hotel is very conveniently located, around 10 mins walk from the station. We got a lake facing room(think all of them are) on the 4th floor and the view was awesome. It was overlooking the wooden walking bridge and with good views of the mountain ranges. The room was extremely clean and the bathroom was quite modern.

The only downside for some persons would be the noise from the pub and also the fact that this is a pub-hotel so they dont have a dedicated reception.Personally this was not an issue for me.

This does not have breakfast included, however you would find quite a number of places nearby,so that should not be an issue.

The location is great and you would find countless restuarants adjacent to it.

Sooo...the location is incredible, our room and balcony overlooked the chapel bridge. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and it's cheaper than most accommodation in Lucern. The dominican fella behind the bar was a champ, really helpful and accomodating - and its a fun bar to be in and meet friends at. We knew this was a pub hotel, so we knew it would be noisy (and it was) until late at night - and we were ok with that; we were out too.

HOWEVER, a couple of things mean we'll look elsewhere next time: Even with the heavy blinds dropped and balcony doors closed, the street noise all throughout the night is significant - at all hrs men noisily rolling out of the 'nightclub' a block down meant we didn't sleep more than 20 minutes at a time, not to mention delivery trucks - and the stifling heat meant we eventually gave up and opened the doors for some fresh air...at the cost of further noise - the hotel can't help who walks by but patrons should keep this in mind. Then there was no soap in the dispenser in the shower and my towel was threadbare and had an enormous hole in it...these little things the hotel can and should be on top of without even thinking about it.

I have stayed in Luzern a number of times and have tended to go for the 4/5 star hotels. This time availability was thin on the ground and we reluctantly checked into the Pickwick. WOW what a stroke of luck!!!! We had two single rooms both with balconies overlooking the famous walk bridge, people were great and price was incredible. Its not luxurious hotel, but if you want an excellent position, great price and clean accommodation look no further.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony

We had a great stay at this hotel due to the perfect location, helpful staff, and beautiful scenery! Would definitely stay here again. Switzerland is expensive so this hotel is well worth the money. The only complaint is the sporadic Internet but you can live without that due to the beauty of the city. I saw some complaints of the pub staff but they were incredibly helpful when we were here in early July 2012. Also, the beds there were the most comfortable beds EVER!

Room Tip: The rooms are over the pub so it gets a bit noisy at night but take a sleeping pill and you'll sleep just fine!

Stayed at Hotel Mr. Pickwicks with family this summer, the experience was great! The hotel couldn’t be located in a better place, in the heart of Lucerne with only 5 min walk to train station. From our hotel balcony we could sit and enjoy the amazing view of Mount Pilatus and the Chapel Bridge. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The pub downstairs has a great ambiance, with a nice selection of local and international beer and delicious pub food to be enjoyed by the riverside! For its reasonable price and fantastic location, we can only recommend the hotel.
