“Very nice, but the fog/clouds made it less perfect”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

We took the morning trip due to our traveling schedule. As expected, the fog/clouds covered the area most of the morning. The boat ride was very nice. The buildings with various shapes on the shore, shined by weak golden morning sun with fogged green mountain back ground, provided very pleasant views and very good photo opportunities. The train/cable car rides were smooth, but the scenic views along the way and at peaks were limited due to fog and clouds. While the mountain peaks were clear, most of the lakes were covered. We will visit the area again when in Switzerland and will definitely take an afternoon trip.

“Trip to Mt. Rigi”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

We took the boat from in front of the train station to the last stop and then took the cog wheel train up Mt. Rigi. All transportation was covered by our Swiss Pass. The views were amazing, weather. We then took both the train and gondola down.

“Heavenly views above the clouds!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Simply breathtaking! We took the cog railway all the way to Rigi Kulm hence only need to do a short hike to the summit. The experience is out of the world...with superb views of the alps and the lakes below, covered in a sea of clouds. On the way down, we stopped by at the Mineralbad & Spa Rigi Kaltbad and had the most amazing spa experience. Highly recommended!

“Unbeatable Views!”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Mark Twain knew something! In deed, when he spent time in Europe he climbed this beautifully located mountain. The entire walk up is about 4 - 5 hours, but we took the train from Vitznau to Kaltbad and walked the remaining 1 1/2 hours to the summit. The views from Rigi are superb - to the South the alpine chain of peaks all the way to the Moench, Eiger, Jungfrau, to the West and North you can see the Black Forest in Germany and the Zuger See. An amazing panorama! It's a popular destination but most people take the cable car so you can enjoy the hike up or down taking in the scenery with hang gliders below you and blue sky above. Tip: don't eat at the summit, stop at the little place before you get to the summit. Pilatus Mountain on the other side of the Lake Lucerne might look more spectacular but the views from Rigi can't be beat.
