We traveled by rail to Lucerne (Luzern) and went via bus to Kreins. From there we took the cogwheel train to the top of Mt. Pilatus. The view was majestic. Mt. Pilatus is over 7,000 feet high and it was cool up there, considering it was hot in Lucerne. We had lunch (restaurant up at the top) and then took the gondola down the other side of the mountain. The view of the town /forest was incredible.
If you're afraid of heights, it's better taking the cogwheel train back down from the mountain!

Well, what can I say.
Love it.
Plenty of shops ( my wife and daughter were hours there) and hundreds of places to eat with the central European flavor.

Lovely.

Tranquil small town, many excellent restaurants, lots of watch shops along cobbled walkways. It is not too busy and crowded like Zürich or Lugano - just the right balance of old charm and modern conveniences

The Old Town is really pretty and features picturesque squares flanked by many old buildings. It was lovely taking a walk around the old town, past restaurants and shops.

We really enjoyed walking and shopping in Old Town Luzern.... we thought it the best Old Town of any of the cities we visited in Switzerland. Was great fun, especially the pictures on Chapel Bridge. Lots of shops, restaurants and great scenery in the fountains, buildings and streets to see. Plan to spend a very long time here. We only planned for a few hours and it wasn't nearly enough!
